I think the issue some have is that it's an insignificant play on a day that was overwhelmingly good by JG and it feels like people are nitpicking because...well...it's Jimmy.
I get criticizing Jimmy after the Colts game. If he put another couple games up like that I was gonna be firmly on the, "start trey" wagon. But I bend towards positive views on our guys until they give me ample evidence to not be positive anymore. Like, I'm not gonna hope McG gets better at pass pro, at this point.
When our qb has a good game, we want to celebrate that and look positively for the future and 2 days of harping on a play like this is just kind of ridiculous.
No. Its because people who homer out for Jimmy are incapable of accepting even the slightest criticism. Even on that play, every single person in this thread has said Deebo should have caught it. There shouldnt be a debate at all. But some people have to defend him no matter what, which leads to 20 pages of debate.
Jimmy played very well. Everyone agrees.
It takes two sides for a debate. Just because someone says something that is wrong (i.e. That was a good throw), doesn't mean those who disagree can't just ignore those comments instead of arguing that they are correct and creating frame by frame breakdowns of the play.
Could it have been caught? Absolutely.
Could it have been thrown better? Absolutely.
Has every QB in NFL history made poor throws? Absolutely.
Has every WR in NFL history failed to catch a pass that he should have? Absolutely.
Bottom line is that both Jimmy and Deebo are at fault on the play, and more importantly, both of them ended up shrugging it off to have great games which led to a win.
