In the grand scheme of things, he is a winner. Dude is an NFL QB (by default), got money, a Jordan contract, and a clark kent face. What more do you really need in life?

Bet he wouldn't have said that last week after the Colts game though!

Applies to both tbh

How well are Lawrence and Wilson doing right now...?

This is not the right thread, but as to the above, it's irrelevant. It's a red herring. No one cares how they are doing this year, other than to see improvement. They will be judged, like Lance, and every other QB, in their second year, fifth year, tenth year, etc.--up to the end of their career.

No. Its because people who homer out for Jimmy are incapable of accepting even the slightest criticism. Even on that play, every single person in this thread has said Deebo should have caught it. There shouldnt be a debate at all. But some people have to defend him no matter what, which leads to 20 pages of debate.

Jimmy played very well. Everyone agrees.

I got attacked in the Trey Lance thread from one of Jimmy's extreme fans for.......*gasp*......posting a GIF of Trey Lance completing a pass.

That is disgusting. Shame on you
Who would have believed it. The trade deadline has come and gone. Jimmy G is still here. We have a chance for the play offs now!

I think the issue some have is that it's an insignificant play on a day that was overwhelmingly good by JG and it feels like people are nitpicking because...well...it's Jimmy.

I get criticizing Jimmy after the Colts game. If he put another couple games up like that I was gonna be firmly on the, "start trey" wagon. But I bend towards positive views on our guys until they give me ample evidence to not be positive anymore. Like, I'm not gonna hope McG gets better at pass pro, at this point.

When our qb has a good game, we want to celebrate that and look positively for the future and 2 days of harping on a play like this is just kind of ridiculous.

It takes two sides for a debate. Just because someone says something that is wrong (i.e. That was a good throw), doesn't mean those who disagree can't just ignore those comments instead of arguing that they are correct and creating frame by frame breakdowns of the play.

Could it have been caught? Absolutely.
Could it have been thrown better? Absolutely.
Has every QB in NFL history made poor throws? Absolutely.
Has every WR in NFL history failed to catch a pass that he should have? Absolutely.

Bottom line is that both Jimmy and Deebo are at fault on the play, and more importantly, both of them ended up shrugging it off to have great games which led to a win.

Just wanted to jump into this conversation with an analogy from my first sport; football (soccer).

In football, kids don't go through college/uni, generally they are spotted at a young age (sometimes as young as 8 or younger) by professional clubs and are cut as they progress through the age groups. The most obvious age group for Scottish football is u19s, where generally clubs have a good idea whether the player will make it at their current level. On rare occasions, clubs will release a player, thinking they won't make it, only for them to be picked up by e.g a lower level club, and said player will go on to do better. The top end clubs in Europe have the finances to have massive youth squads, and swallow up huge numbers of young players. The also have the ability to loan players to other clubs in lower leagues to gain experience.

Imagine for a second, that the 49ers could loan Lance to another franchise; a franchise where he would be better than their starting QB. That could be a win win situation.

That can't happen, so what's the next best option? In the 49ers case, is he currently better than Garoppolo? IMO, going by his start vs the Colts, no. Will he be in the future? Absolutely, 100%.

So let's not put undue pressure on the lad. Let him learn to integrate, let him learn to be on the sidelines.

How well are Lawrence and Wilson doing right now...?

and this is why USA soccer will always be inferior
Jimmy owns AZ so I expect a good game
LMAO at arguing over that one pass after a win.

Folks gotta side up and argue about such a meaningless moment.

Your incessant petty myopic posts ridiculing every aspect of jimmys play is the very definition of trolling and i have no idea why mods dont ban you outright
