From reports, Garoppolo has a torn ulnar collateral ligament. (UCL) From the Johns Hopkins website, that is a ligament in the elbow, not in the thumb area. It is critical to maintain elbow stability in a throwing motion.

"The UCL can be injured in several ways. Most commonly, there is a gradual onset of elbow pain due to repetitive stresses on the ligament. This is especially common in athletes who play sports that require overhead arm use or throwing."

"The instability resulting from a UCL tear may affect your ability to participate in sports that require throwing."

It can be the result of a single traumatic incident. In that case, it usually comes from a fall with an outstretched arm that may also include a bone chip that pulls of the humerus bone. This, however, is less common.

So, the reports of a thumb injury do not fit with a UCL injury.

So, Garoppolo may have been experiencing some pain and instability in his motion that impacted his accuracy. Bingo.

I know it's approaching tin foil hat territory, but what are the chances Jimmy just pulled a Jimmy with his inconsistent play, laid an egg, and now Shanalynch is playing damage control with his trade stock by blaming that game on injury? Obviously durability is also an issue with the guy, but teams would be more willing to gamble on health than an 8 year vet who's still so wildly inconsistent.

It's flat out dumb. Shanny pointed to the specific play and you can clearly see that a hand injury is a high possibility by the way the defender grabbed it and Jimmy falling in it awkwardly. To think this is just coincidence for some crazy conspiracy is nuts.
Our medical staff don't belong in the NFL, Jimmy G had no business being in the game with this kind of injury.

Jimmy probably wanted to gut it out given his injury history. Odd they didn't even consider Trey.

Let's hope Trey doesn't run into the same problems...lol

...on Friday the 13th 👀, Stephens became enraged after two cyclists drove side-by-side in front of him, presumably clogging up the road. Stephens managed to accelerate ahead, pulled over and then approached the cyclists with diabolical intentions.

He punched one in the face, knocking him unconscious, before asking the other, "You want some do you?" Stephens then proceeded to knock the other dude off his bike and hit him six or seven times while he was on the ground eating dirt.

The cyclists will be okay even though one was taken to the hospital with a "broken tooth root."

Any other teams wanting to sign Jimmy would be out of their mind not to also have a decent backup qb. Jimmy just can't stay healthy the whole year. 2 games away from getting into the playoffs.
Best of luck jimmy. Was very ready to move on from him, but sucks it's going down like this.

A few days after Lynch got busted liking that tweet this info comes out?

I think Garapplo told the team he is done. If I was Garapplo I'd say F it too if my GM did a boneheaded thing like that.

Shanahan was likely done with him too after that last game and this is a better excuse to save his trade value than having to bench him.

They'll hug it out

I wonder if the Saints come calling. I think they might be able to swing a 2nd and 3rd for Jimmy?? Washington might be another good bet but I think the darkhorse will be Cleveland.

Oooh forgot about NYG, maybe they give the 9ers Daniel Jones straight up. Would you guys take that trade??

How many times does it need to be stated that the Saints isn't going to happen for cap reasons? They will probably bring Jameis back on the cheap.

Jimmy gave his all this team and this is how we treat him. We should just give him Dee Ford money and pay him for not playing. We gave him a crappy supporting cast that RACd up yardage but were unable to score Tds. That and our wideouts were way too short.

There's UCL elbow and there's UCL thumb, right? It's clear according to Schaefer that Garoppolo suffered a UCL thumb. Anyway, if he did, he requires a surgery, right? So that's months of rehab and if you do the math, he's done for the season. So the Trey Lance era begins.

After this image was taken Jimmy lost hearing in his left ear. John said he didn't mean to touch him so hard.
