In the video of him throwing, to be honest it doesn't even look any different at all to me. Him starting is more of a possibility than I thought (without seeing the video)
Same, looks no different other than him having a wrap around his thumb. He's gonna start
Pretty wild, grade 3 sprain is no joke....Jimmy's a tough SOB if he can play and actually perform. respect
For real. Wow.

Me either but just the fact that he's even trying is seriously impressive and towing a major company line for a competitive advantage.

If Jimmy can throw accurately up to 15 yards, then that's probably enough to make every throw that he attempted in the previous matchup. I'm more worried whether he'll be able to hold onto the ball if he gets hit.

No way can he play. Dude would be a liability capable of throwing it to the other team every time he drops back. Also, if he plays, you know damn well the Rams entire defensive line is going to be swiping at that hand, which could do more damage to it and force him to fumble.

I think it already is shut down, Kyle just loves this gamesmanship. Don't be surprised if he does this week 1 of the playoffs also.

This is good. But I picked up on the line of "the 49ers have no confidence in Trey Lance." I don't know where that's coming from. I think Shanahan and the team have plenty of confidence in the kid. Shanahan always defers to his veteran players. He is loathe to start a rookie, at any position. He's done it when he has to, but tends to defer to experience over potential talent.
It's a guessing game, but I still think Trey Lance starts for the 49ers this Sunday. This game is far too big to go into it with an injured QB. As much as I love Jimmy Garoppolo, he IS injured. He IS hurting. He risks further injury with live game action, possibly career ending injury.
I just don't see how Garoppolo starts.

He gets Steve to teach him the art of the southpaw. That or KS goes with the old hand off 50 times approach.

Let's do the right thing- Jimmy is having a serious injury and if common sense or moral reason dictates, he should be sidelined. The risk just totally outweighs the benefit on this one. Trey Lance is the future, is drafted high, has been preparing for this one and I believe he has improved, has proven can win games, he is absolutely healthy- he should start. Win or lose, at least they did the right thing.
