In the video of him throwing, to be honest it doesn't even look any different at all to me. Him starting is more of a possibility than I thought (without seeing the video)
Same, looks no different other than him having a wrap around his thumb. He's gonna start
Pretty wild, grade 3 sprain is no joke....Jimmy's a tough SOB if he can play and actually perform. respect
For real. Wow.
I just can't see him playing
good watch. i agree with this guy.
Agree.
This is good. But I picked up on the line of "the 49ers have no confidence in Trey Lance." I don't know where that's coming from. I think Shanahan and the team have plenty of confidence in the kid. Shanahan always defers to his veteran players. He is loathe to start a rookie, at any position. He's done it when he has to, but tends to defer to experience over potential talent.
It's a guessing game, but I still think Trey Lance starts for the 49ers this Sunday. This game is far too big to go into it with an injured QB. As much as I love Jimmy Garoppolo, he IS injured. He IS hurting. He risks further injury with live game action, possibly career ending injury.
I just don't see how Garoppolo starts.
A Healthy Trey > Injured Jimmy, in my opinion.
Trey's development from the first half of the Houston game to the second half (according to Orlorvsky) was frighteningly fast. Imagine what Trey can evolve into, when faced with a playoff defense like the Rams vs a bottom feeding defense like the Texans.
I'm mentally prepared for a loss. It's no different than when Jimmy blew his knee out and the season was lost. The season comes down to one game - this Sunday. What I'd like to see this Sunday -- is Trey playing lights out and making some great improvement - if it's a loss or a win. I just want to see him get better, and get ready to be QB1 next year. I'm pretty sure we've seen the last of Jimmy playing a game in a 49er uniform.
He is a very good QB, he just doesn't have the kind of durability a top flight QB needs to have to make all pro year in and year out.
