Now they're concerned about Williams because of that ongoing elbow injury. How well will he be able to handle Donald or Miller. Jimmy's thumb may be okay in practice but what happens when he gets hit. I seem to remember the same thing with his ankle injury. It was okay in practice but as soon as live action started it was a different thing.

Completely agree, it'll be down to Kyle, and I don't think he'll make the right choice. Jimmy could help by being honest though.

I think Jimmy will be ok, but he's going to have to lean on that Run game. If they fall behind, I can see Trey coming in and trying to do a come from behind win.

Me, personally, I'd like to see what Trey can do from the git-go against a Playoff defense. I can understand that if Kyle goes with Jimmy, it's because he has the Rams number. Six in a row? I don't know about that, I think the odds are that this is the game that might go the other direction. I'm not confident in this game at all due to Jimmy's injury.
With this game being a must win game with all his experience Jimmy is obviously our best option if he can go, we can let the Trey era begin next year. My biggest concern is fumbling issues and if he drops back to pass and gets hit if he'll be able to hold onto the ball.

what if it was possible to admit Jimmy is a QB that wins games, is limited, but has also had some really nice games. And what if while admitting that, you also can admit that Lance has more potential and think he's the long term solution. Wouldn't be cool if people were mature enough to do that without feeling like they needed to choose a side.

This isn't 6th grade. Some dudes dig in so hard its mind bottling.

Boom.

Trent Williams is going to be a key protector for Jimmy in this game. Problem is that Trent has an elbow injury and I'm not sure if he's even practiced this week.

It's not just about if Jimmy can suit up though,

IMO if Jimmy isn't 95% healthy I'm starting Lance.

Which he won't be…

Trey gonna have to save the day if Jimmy goes down.

Only if Jimmy really can't play another snap. If Jimmy is just merely unable to throw accurately or is ineffective, then keep him out there. Don't put Trey out there midway through the game in some desperate attempt to save the season if things go south.

Disagree. You have to put in Trey if Jimmy's not getting it done. That's why they spent 3 number one picks on the kid. I think Trey can come from behind with that rocket arm of his. I'm sure they will have practiced that scenario and have the long-ball packages ready should Trey have to take over for Jimmy. Obviously, it's not going to be an ideal situation for Trey, but he's being paid millions to deal with situations like this. I think it will be a good learning experience for him on top of that, win or lose.
It's not just about Lance's big arm. Much of it is about Garoppolo being more experienced in dealing with the Rams' front. Lance was able to deal with the Houston front OK but Donald, Floyd, and Miller are at another level. Hence, JG will have to be noticeably restricted in throwing to let Lance start.
Experienced? Do you know Pornstar Jimmy's record when playing hurt? It sucks. Lance can avoid the rush much easier than the Human Statue. Jimmy ruined his own mobility by not running out of bounds against KC. He has never been the same and it's painful to watch him do an Irish jig in the pocket. Time to say good-bye to Jimmy...

This.

If Jimmy's starting this Sunday, rooting 100% for him to play well. If he does, I very much like this team's chances to win this Sunday.

If Lance is in there, 100% rooting for him to play well and rise to the challenge vs. a quality opponent where a win secures a playoff berth.

Jimmy is better than Lance. Maybe that's not the case someday, but right now it is and it's really not close.

If you can't see that I don't know what you're watching.

Trey can throw 10 yard passes just like Jimmy, plus more. He just needs to play - if Jimmy can't throw straight, you got to give the start to a healthy Trey.

if you wanna ignore JG's quick release which is one of the main reasons he is so effective against the Rams

this is a good point. Jimmy gets the ball out 2 something seconds where with Trey its like 3
Naturally. Bigger plays take longer to develop.
I'd roll with Jimmy, we've seen what hes done with the season on the line ala superbowl. Give him a chance to redeem himself and if he doesn't then can't say we didn't give him the opportunity. If he does well then he gets to continue.
