Yeah and great job front office. He's 33-14 with a 99 rating and 3-1 in the playoffs. Imagine if he was healthy in 2018 and 2020 that's really the only knock. He's been worth every penny. Hoping he roasts Green Bay for the obvious let's win reasons but also the added bonus of draft capital. If he goes out and has a clutch game like on road vs Rams our stock is going up even more.

Im not so sure he's gone next season.

Perhaps not but then you wonder what is the exit strat. I suppose they could tag him after 2022 and attempt to trade while on the tag. My gut says he's gone soon I expect with his solid campaign there will be meaningful offers, we need the draft ammo, it would be a tightrope playing him into his final year, we are dying to kick the tires on Trey after selling the farm, etc.

In any case no need to have this convo now we'll have from February to August that's 180 days of no football
Let's keep it about f the Packers Week

this is not the NBA, sign and trades aren't done in the NFL.

It's not common but Jarvis Landry was tagged and traded that's how he got on the Browns.

If they get a nice offer, maybe. But he has a dead cap of 1.4. Plus an injury guarantee of 7.5. That will almost undoubtedly kick in. He's hurt now in 2 areas. Any kind of surgery or what have you will almost undoubtedly linger past the start of the new year, thus the 7.5 million kicking in. Ala Kaepernick. That puts your hit at 8.9

Then you have to go out and get a competent veteran backup. You're looking at 7-10 million. So say it's 7. You're in at 15.9. Only saving 10 million of that 26.

Depending on the picks you can get. Not sure it would be worth it

that's true, also happened with Jarred Allen as well. but the price difference is insane when comparing franchise tags for WRs/DEs compared to QBs. Jimmy would cost a team 45 mil in salary cap for that year lol (Pat is the highest paid at 45 mil a year). don't see that happening at all.

and they play vastly different roles to our teams succsess

Well that doesn't backup the economics claim…

Yeah as mentioned it would be walking a tightrope and I don't see it happening either too many reasons as mentioned above why I think he's playing his last year with us.

His current injuries are not important when talking about his injury clause. Only way that kicks in if he suffers a really bad injury in these playoffs.

were in the playoffs we would not have made the playoffs without him so as far as im concerned he was worth it

And that isn't the point of the discussion. You don't think the only QBs that we could have made it this far would have costed more then him?

It's moneyball because they quickly tried to pay him before his market went up even more (there was a run on QB pay then) and consequently added annual rip cords and had the cap space to pay $40M up front of that.

All that before ever really seeing how he'd fare once he had to play within Kyle's actual system and not hero, off script ball when he arrived.

I totally get your point as to value and ROI. I'm big on that too esp. at the most expensive positions and with this FO and where they choose to spend their cap space.

Most teams want to sign a player early for the same reason…that's not just a SF thing.

Not at the QB position after just 5 games though. That's on the FO.

The game he threw 2 picks in? No thanks. Defense bailed us out in that game by picking Stanford twice, no way we get 2 interceptions from Rodgers. Jimmy needs to have a game like he had at home on the Monday night game vs Rams.

He has a great last two drives, but clutch in the playoffs he has not been….there's a stat floating around backing that up.

Let's see what he's got tomorrow…change the narrative

So glad we have JG. Imagine if we cut him 6 months ago to resign Richard Sherman and have Andy Dalton / Trey Lance at QB we'd be watching the games instead of playing em at this point

I never said he should be cut….you have no idea what Lance would be right now if he got every snap from day 1.

I guess, we'll find out next year.

For now, I'm just enjoying the last ride of the Jimmy era.

Yup let's just enjoy the ride. This has been one of the most memorable seasons I've witnessed such a great year and I'm hoping this is the season of #6

Tennessee 88.0
LA 87.5
Dallas 67.4

Not going in the right direction, obviously because of the thumb. Now has the shoulder issue. Hopefully the running game is hitting on all cylinders and Jimmy doesn't have to throw much. If we win and - fingers crossed - continue winning, this will show exactly how little we actually depend on him to win games.

What I like is the talent around him. So good on the ground with Eli and Deebo active. Add in #1 FB, #1 LT and #1 TE

One thing I notice we'll run Deebo or put him in the backfield to give the appearance of run but then he'll come off winded from all the running. Not a complaint just an observation.

Notice weeks 1-9 he had 8+ targets per game every game. Week 10 on he had 8+ targets once.

Again not complaining obviously he's doing unreal on the ground just an observation. From the JG perspective naturally your pass stats are going to be down as Deebo's usage is clearly way more shifted to the run from the pass. Obviously Shanny and Co don't care about JG's stats but something to consider when you are looking at JGs stats. His best weapon has largely shifted from pass game to run game.
Jimmy is NOT coming back next year. This is it.

Hopefully this isn't the last game but if it is, it's been real...a little bit of everything, and everything in between.

Respect for leaving it all out there.
