So why are we getting rid of Jimmy then and not Kyle?
We haven't yet. He's still a 49er.![]()

Still a possibility he isn't moved this offseason too, specially if he wins a Lombardi. We still have to see.
Still doesn't make sense to me. If Kyle is so bad without Jimmy, obviously he's the issue and Jimmy should get an extension.
He just needs to make playoff runs like this with Trey and no one will make that point again.

LMAO. You need to go back and watch the game again. Our entire OL collapsed and there is no lane or avenue to step up into. Then, go watch Rodgers pass protection. When his pass protection failed, he more often than not still had lanes or room to step up or out too. He's just slow as hell now esp. in that weather.
Are you saying Rodgers is slow or Jimmy? I can't tell from your post. I know Jimmy is slow. Always has been. Rodgers still moves pretty well if he has to.
Rodgers was slow. Not just his age now but even more to do with the field conditions. When Arik Armstead is chasing you down, you're slow. LOL
He still moves better than Jimmy. Rodgers had 101 yards rushing this year which was his worst of his career since he's been the starter. He 's had that injured toe for several weeks now but he still moves better than Jimmy. For his career, he has 3372 yards (avg 240 per year). Jimmy's best year was 219 when he had 62 yards. Hw=e only has 192 for his career.
So yes Rodgers is slower nw at 36 than he was when he was younger but he still runs better than lead foot Jimmy even with the bad toe.

Oh you're comparing the two. Gotcha. No doubt, Rodgers has been more mobile over his career. That's a different topic though.
You were talking about that game and I was adding the context in there for you. He had opportunities to extend whereas Jimmy didn't have as many of those opportunities if you rewatch the game.

That's cool. Trent Dilfer, after all, was also a 49er.
I hope Jimmy does win the super bowl. It would make life a teentsy bit harder for the *Jimmy is average* crowd on the Webzone.![]()

If all he does is win, then why are we going to ship him off at the end of the season?
Carry on
And expect better results than we have seen in 2019 and 2021.

I'd be shocked if we keep him and the only way we do it is either by adding a void year to lower his cap figure or an extension to eye a trade. There's no way you just let him walk after another year. We have a chance to get a really nice return for him in draft capital. You don't just let him play out his contract and hit FA.
It's not just that. The money we get from trading him allows us to put together a better supporting cast next year around Trey than Jimmy has this year.
I couldn't agree more. He's gone.
Should be a Super Bowl lock with an improved roster.

And wha'ts sean payton's record without drew brees(3rd stringer and a TE as a QB) , winning record, if kyle is so good and QB don't matter, he should at least able to win 50% with those hoyer/mullen/whatever
18-9 the past three seasons.

There weren't a lot of opportunities for either guy in that game. In the end, that weather played right into the 49ers hands. The team with the better defense was able to shine. It's kind of weird that everyone (including me) thought the weather would be an issue and it was. it turned out to be an issue that the cold weather team couldn't deal with. I heard a guy on the radio this morning say that the Niners have the type of team that a cold weather team like GB should have. Tough. Strong defense. Good running game. Instead they have the finesse passing of Rodgers to Adams, Lazard and Valdes-Scantling.

And sometimes we still win when he isn't clutch. For example, the end of the Dallas game where his interception kept the door open and then his nerves got the better of him on the QB sneak causing him to rush it, creating the false start, and giving the Cowboys one last chance to win.

Totally. And so far the team has been able to overcome them to win or not make as many as the opposition.
That's football...the ultimate team sport.

Wow, so refreshing of an assessment. Soooooooo much more to QBing, especially in this system, than just the salient tangibles.
Yeah this was a great exchange and explanation of the intangibles that QB's (and all positions) must have to be successful.
