Not one f**king bit. It's not fantasy football. We're winning. Jimmy is making great, clutch throws when we need them. It's a team sport, not QB vs. QB.

I also absolutely LOVE the personality of this team. Blue collar. Tough. Resilient. Underdog mentality. Jimmy is a big part of that.

Sadly, you and the other Jimmy haters are missing out on something really special.

Exactly right. I've stated this many times before. Some people on here would rather have a qb throw for 5000 yards 40tds, and go 6 and 10. Disgusting.

If a QB did that and the team was 6-10, we'd most likely all be in the defensive coordinator thread.

We probably woild be, but some posters would be more content with that then in the nfc championship game.

As fans that look at the low level details of a game, you and I know that winning requires details. And whether the 49ers win or lose, you and I look at the whys and hows. STs could have really hurt the 49ers in the DAL game, but to dismiss STs as a weakness and just proclaim, "49ers won so why are we complaining" is a bit simplistic. I think this current playoff run has further fueled the Jimmy talk because he has very weak numbers, except for the all important Win column. But if you look beyond the Win column, there is a lot to talk about regarding Jimmy's play.

That's fair. But at the same point, the vitriolic levels, to the point of saying Jimmy does none of the work and the entire team carries him and the heated levels it gets it ridiculous to me, when we're still winning.

You know as well as anyone how heated this gets. I mean, how many times had this thread been locked?

That's my point. Why are we getting this heated about our quarterback considering where we are as a team. What's the point?

It's because he's a QB and football fans love talking about quarterbacks. I don't agree with anyone saying Jimmy is just along for the ride, or that he did none of the work. He was a part of building the early lead in DAL, and he helped drive the team down the field to set up Gould's field goal. What he did in Green Bay is admirable, no offense was going to do well in that weather.
I think folks see some of the other QBs slinging it all over the field and want that from the 49ers QB. That's not who Jimmy is and it's not who he needs to be to help this team win. What's the point? I think it's just to kill time until Sunday.

If that were the point this would be a whole lot more civil and we'd all be handshakes and hugs in here. There'd be a lot less name-calling and people constantly quoting old posts.

This thread, by this point, is a lot more about being right or grass is greener mentality.

wow..when as that ever happen?

Just look at the Texans in 2020. Or packers in 2018. It happens.

Or Bucs in 2019. They were 7-9 with Winston throwing for 5,100 yards and 33 TD's

Nah they want at least 4K, 25+ tds, less than 10 int, and a winning record which has happened a zillion times.

And we will hopefully get that with Trey. But trey isn't ready. And this year's team is riding with Jimmy. And they got to the nfc championship game.

So why the hell are people STILL complaining

That has actually happened only 35 times by 18 different QBs and two of those times the team didn't even make the playoffs.

Oh wait, you said less than 10 INTs.

It's happened 26 times by 13 QBs in the history of the league.

To be honest... If Jimmy just cut down on some of the questionable interceptions, I'd be a lot happier with him. No qualms about him throwing the ball only 20 times a game, because he's pretty efficient. It's just the INT's in tight playoff games that get me nervous.

Praising Jimmy has a winner or praising his GW drive to defeat GB and advance to the NFCC anything is absolutely or a sole reason for something.

Claiming Jimmy is the sole reason this team wins is silly.

When it's said Jimmy just wins that is exactly what is being done. Same with when it was said about Tim Tebow. Same when its said about Tom Brady. All the context of games are suddenly ignored. Hell sports guys today were talking up Brady as if he was the main factor in Sundays game and not the 4 Rams turnovers.

Teams win games and Superbowls. Everyone has to play their part. Gonna need Jimmy to play a bigger part of the next 2 games I think. Hoping he does.
If we don't win the SB this year, will people be more or less excited about changing QBs next year?

weak qb play cost us the super bowl

You are forgetting the blown coverage by Moseley that allowed the momentum to swing and KC to get back in the game.

I'm excited about Trey regardless.

Jimmy G in 2019 had 3,978 yards, 27 TD's and 13 INT's and a 13-3 record. He was really darn close and it wasn't even close to being enough for people. So, no I don't agree that's what they want.

Except of course when they're not. You don't need to look any further than this thread to be aware of that BS hypocrisy. The TEAM wins but it's Jimmy who loses. You guys can't keep having it both ways.

Then why not the same amount of wins *like* Jimmy if Hoyer, Beathard, and Mullens are playing QB. Can't have it both ways now.

Why is Jared Goff losing so much now, and Matt Stafford is winning so much?

That's comparing apples and oranges. Two different teams. I'm comparing apples to apples, 49ers to the 49ers, just Jimmy vs Hoyer etc... You are comparing 49ers to Detroit - Goff vs Stafford.
