Biggest falsehood currently being peddled: Jimmy Garoppolo's cap hit is somehow preventing 49ers from extending Deebo Samuel.

SF can actually keep Samuel's 2022 cap hit the same/maybe even lower it with an extension. This is simply about finding an agreeable long-term deal
Just because it's possible to extend Deebo without dramatically increasing his 2022 salary doesn't mean it's possible to do that AND make Deebo happy.
That would mean making him happy hurts the team. He doesn't seem like that guy. I don't see why he would want that.
I feel like the overwhelming majority of NFL players take the attitude that NFL teams are owned by billionaires, and they can find a way to make it work so pay me my damned money. It's usually only the ones that have already gotten theirs that take the team discount.
He doesn't need to take any kind of discount for this to work. He would get a massive raise.
