Jimmy scammed us for over $100 million. He doesn't eat that s**t.

So it would be in our best interest to just cut him when he clears medical?

Guess that would depend on what Panthers are offering.

If CAR wants cap relief, I guess Darnold in exchange is an option. But for the 49ers, releasing Jimmy gives more cap space than taking in Darnold ($19). I think I got that right.

I don't see Darnold as an upgrade at back up QB so that seems like a waste just to save $8 million.

Need to weigh which is worth more. We're dumping Jimmy because his play does not match his contract, and we need that money for other players. So essentially it would boil down to whether we wanted cap space or draft picks more. Personally I'd rather cut him and use the $ on proven players than buy a draft pick that is an unknown.

At this point no....come WK1 yes. Until then see if you can get something for him. Sounds like the Panthers are trying to move down in this draft to get more draft capital. Take a day 2 pick this yr and next. Panthers can give Jimmy a extension and try to go back to the well in a yr or so to find the FQB.
