Ridiculous, btw anyone sick of the Grant Cohn character. The dude just hates on Jimmy 24/7 to the point. The dude is such a troll! And no way, I wouldn't want to be 0-17. We were a few plays and a dropped int from a super bowl this season! Hopefully Trey goes at least 11-7 and we beat Dallas in Dallas again in the playoffs!

the 49ers are really an empire in that way. I don't think that there is any other franchise that would sacrifice a season because they prefer one qb over another. It's very unique, everyone seems enthralled with the concept that after a few loosing seasons, Trey Lance will win a Superbowl. No other fans in the entire NFL feel that way, it's just weird and bizarre.

I learned a few things since I've been observing the 49ers since Garoppolo's arrival... don't say "San Fran" and don't say "Niner's Nation" ... oh, and dare I say it?

My experience is that 49ers fans tend to not be up to date on what the fans of other teams think.

Understatement of the century.

Everyone here knows he's a good QB. He just isn't great.

And if he somehow fixes the things holding him back and become great for the Panthers (or whoever), more power to him. He'll still cost almost 30 million though, and we'll have a guy for less than half who will also likely end up great.

We have seen enough of jimmy to know what he can do and how far he can go. we deserve something more that could get us over the hump but at least make games easier to win. to often and last year in the playoffs. we have to win games in spite of jimmy. if being competitive is your game. jimmy is your guy. i think we are looking for a little bit more

That's pretty clear. I do believe Kyle and/or John had said that you really want to have "one of those guys," as in, those quarterbacks who can truly take the team on their shoulder and perform miracles. The Mahomes', the Allen's, the Rodgers', the Wilson's, those type of guys that will find a way when the defense wins on scheme as well as execution.

Trey showed he has some of that in the leaked practice tapes. But making the great play won't matter if he can't make the regular play. At the end of last year, he showed a passing grade at that, but not an A. He has room to grow on that, as well as his reaction time to what he sees (both passing and running), and some minor mechanical things to clean up. He's accurate enough to be a winner, but he can improve that as well.

But, if ALL things fall into place with him, we will indeed have "one of those guys," and the people being so harsh on him will be nothing but the cobwebs at the edge of your brain when you wake up from an annoying dream.

There are 2 types of sports writers. One just praises the local teams and is well liked by all. Problem is the articles are usually boring and predictable. Then you have guys like Cohn, Ira Miller, Ray Rato and others like them. They write a lot of stuff that fan boys don't want to hear and some players can't handle. They're fine with that because people read them and talk about them. That's what they get paid for.

Some of you may not be old enuugh to remember Howard Cosell but when he was on MNF he was loved and hated equally. People tuned in to hear him no matter whether they liked him or not. On Tuesday morning people were talking bout him. That's what ABC paid him for. Writers and commentators don't always believe what they say. Sometimes they just want to create a buzz.

A beat reporter's job is to report on the team, not to make himself the center of every story, which is Cohn''s schtick. The only value they have to the fan base is in their ability to establish positive relationships within the organization so that they are in a position to get an honest take on what is going on.

It seems like Maiocco has had at least a couple of lengthy sitdown interviews with Kyle and Lynch every year that they have been here because he has earned the trust of the team. The one he did with Lynch this past season had some pretty pointed questions in it that clearly had Lynch on his heels.

Cohn will never get an interview like that because he chiefly seems to view his role as an adversarial one. Because of that I suspect just about everyone in the organization hates his guts, which means they will probably never give him the kind of access that Maiocco gets, which means he will always be on the outside looking in with his snarky, arrogant takes and be fairly useless as a source for anything worthwhile.

His other problem is that he simply isn't very smart about the game. He always has a bunch of absurd takes which he tries to validate through his revolving door of 'guests' some of whom are actually pretty knowledgeable, like that kid Vish.

If SI had any sense they would hire him as their beat guy and give Cohn the boot. He has a very pleasant demeanor, is well spoken, sees the game pretty clearly and doesn't seem to be a guy who would just be lapdog for the team but would ask good questions and provide interesting takes. Maybe we should start a petition

I think he'd be great at that. But quality reporting is not what they appear to be after. They want the controversy Cohn brings, because that gives them more clicks. And say what you will about Cohn's reporting, he's clearly really good at networking and finding under the radar, talented guys (like Vish) to speak on his YouTube channel.

But media is ultimately about ad revenue, and there's no way Cohn would get clicks the way guys like Maiocco do, so he has to do the only thing he's good at: pissing people off. It makes them money, therefore, it works. Even if the result usually isn't pleasant in the slightest.

he looks pretty good in that uniform

Thinking of becoming a Panthers fan if/when he gets traded?

But come on, this is James Garoppolo we're talking about here. There is no uniform in existence in which he would not look good.

I'm telling yeah Panthers are gonna try to move down, get extra picks and use one of those picks on Jimmy. Give him a small extension to spread out that cap hit and let Jimmy show what he's got. They can go all in on a QB in a yr or so.

If I'm the Panthers I'm taking Baker over Jimmy.

If the asking price of each is the same I agree.

I don't think either guy is a FQB. One has $18M FGTD the other can have his cap hit redone. Both had shoulder injuries. One is a leader/locker room guy the other is a headache there.

Lol

He looks stupid he's had Darnold for life and doesn't want any better what an idiot

He doesn't want mayfield

Maybe Mayfield has been a s**tty teammate??

Seems like he's saying he wants Jimmy?

Well, that would certainly be good news for us. And for Jimmy, too. The Panthers have some good players over there on offense. And if they are interesting in trading for Jimmy to the point that they actually do, that would likely mean their top pick went to offensive line help, which would make Jimmy's job even easier over there. He could presumably have a pretty good season over there.

(assuming we don't poach McCaffrey or Moore in the trade, of course... )

It seems that 49ers fans tend to have a higher opinion of Jimmy than the fans of other teams.

Minshew is the correct answer on that poll in my opinion

We keeping him, huh? lol!

In April, yes that is the plan. In September. f**k no.

Sorry man. Its verry unlikely a 21 year old steps behind the wheel of the 2022 San Francisco Super Bowl convertible Coupe No disrespect to Trey

Sorry man, it's so likely it's practically a guarantee that Trey will be the starter of the 49ers next year.

I agree he will be starter week 1. Thats the plan.

Yet the 49er fans who have an opinion that lines up with the overwhelming majority of NFL fans, analysts and talking heads get ridiculed and called bad fans.
