I must have missed posters calling average to good QB play, great. Or top tier as being discussed right now lol

but I can see why some would be appreciative of having non-trash QB help lead teams to NFCCG or SBs, after seeing their favorite team be trash and miss the playoffs 15 out 20 years.

But then again, it's all black or white here. No grey area. It's either you think a player is trash or you think he's great lol

For me its not great or trash.

To me its great or you should be looking for great.

When it because clear to most that Jimmy wasnt great or wasnt trending towards great, it was time to look elsewhere.

It's not easy finding elite QBs. Or else every team would have one. Like you mentioned, some teams have never even had that in their whole existence. We've been looking for one since Young and haven't gotten lucky.

Hopefully, Lance is that dude. We'll see.

But If he isn't, I'll be appreciative if the team continues to be competitive and make deep playoff runs with shots at SB with him at the helm, until we do find one.

I certainly won't complain, If we win a SB with Lance leading the way, and him not being "elite". I won't be worrying about looking for the next great.

Being conditioned to something is a funny thing isnt it? A lot of us were conditioned to having top tier QB play, and dont want anything else in spite of having a bit of a top tier QB play drought. Accepting something else other than what you are conditioned to is a hard thing for any fan.

20 years without top tier QB play is more than a bit. There are a large number of fans that never saw Young. All they know is mostly trash QB.

Which makes sense why some of us who want more out of the QB position are constantly ridiculed by posters who are happy with Jimmy.

Even though 20 years seems like a lifetime, there are plenty of teams who's fans have never experienced it at all.

There is ridiculing going both ways. Anyone that doesn't believe Jimmy is trash also get ridiculed. You would think posters would know more about trash QBs after the last years, but apparently not lol

either way, I was just pointing out that's it's been more than "a bit of top tier QB play drought."
I dont think I have seen where anyone has said Jimmy is "trash". Everyone here pretty much agrees he is a mid-range second tier QB.
The only way Jimmy gets extended later on this year is with pornstars

Nah, It's been said plenty of times lol

I tend to ignore all of the people who say Jimmy is trash as well as the people who say Jimmy is top 5-8/great/etc. Those people are outliers on either side of the debate.

But come on, this is James Garoppolo we're talking about here. There is no uniform in existence in which he would not look good.

I am going to have to call shenanigans on that.

I don't know. Got to find a sexxxy body to put his head on though, not that overweight block Rapelisberger has. I think I could probably do it in PS convincingly, but it's take me all day so no thank you.

https://www.carolinahuddle.com/topic/176725-which-2022-qb-do-you-prefer/#comments

It seems that 49ers fans tend to have a higher opinion of Jimmy than the fans of other teams.

Minshew is the correct answer on that poll in my opinion

Better yet, Sam Darnold. lol

When a fan base is conditioned to losing.

Sam Darnold = top 3 pick in 2022 and Rhule getting fired....which sounds like that's what the fan base wants.

Sounds like they don't want to win 8+ games with Jimmy and sneak into the playoffs lol. Like most fans they want the "chance" of possibly getting a FQB, just not happening in this draft.

I mean I'd prefer to not suck, win some games AND still have the chance to get that FQB in a yr or two. I mean what's the point in paying CMC, Anderson, DJ Moore, Moton, Thompson etc if you just want to lose games with Sam
So you're saying keep jimmy ?

Seeing as how we'll not be wanting to tank to get a FQB in 2023, since we've already placed a bet on that matter, I'd say no.

Dominant in highschool, college and the pros.

Too funny. Same guy, without the ACL. Plenty of throws all over the field.

I wouldn't say "people", only one poster that I can recall, as opposed to the other side which is made up by way more than one poster and have been a lot more vocal.

But anyways, we're getting away from the original point.

This is incorrect. It's the people who think he's a tier above what he is that gets ridiculed. E.g., the people who think he's top 8 (literally claimed by someone because passer rating ranking), or the people who'd prefer him to Super Bowl Champion Stafford, or Mahomes even (literally claimed on this site), or Rodgers even (literally claimed on this site).

After that, the arguments are just which side of tier two he belongs to.

What is the percentage?

This is a highlight film. It doesn't have the incompletions. And Jimmy's deep throw problem IS NOT arm strength. He's got more than enough arm strength to be great at the deep ball (no, he won't be Josh Allen, but he can make ALL the necessary throws).

No, it's not arm strength. It's accuracy and a hesitancy to throw deep often (probably BECAUSE of the accuracy issues).

As you can see here, per the Deep Ball Project, for wide open deep balls, Jimmy was one of the worst in the NFL:

Disagree.

Posters that have shown support or appreciation towards Jimmy have been ridiculed. And I'm not talking over the top, like the couple of posters you are referencing.

Anyways, enough of this. It appears we're not going to agree on this (Not surprising).

If those guys were ridiculed, it's because they made ridiculous claims or attacks based on a ridiculous position (e.g., saying "f**k anyone who wanted Stafford over Garoppolo," which was said in the 49ers week 10 thread, and of course, by the end of the season, we see that was indeed ridiculous, as Stafford was clearly proved to be the better QB in 2021). I challenge you to post some evidence, which I'm sure you won't do.
[ Edited by 5_Golden_Rings on Apr 18, 2022 at 3:45 PM ]
l was waiting for the usual some post evidence. Then when you go out of your way to post evidence, you are met with the usual, "well that's not what they really meant, what they meant was blah blah"instead of just owning up. I've been burned several times by that tactic. Fool me once...lol

like I said, enough of his, we're not going to agree on this, which isn't surprising.

We got away from the original conversation between SWH and I.
