Can't say I'm surprised. Injury prone QB, above average ability at best, while making a lot of money.

He's gonna be cut after he passes his physical. We will probably wait a week after he passes, and hope somebody bites, and then cut if no one does

Still talking about Jimmy? LMAO.

So now we have to wait for the Nick Foles domino

Yeah, teams might prefer Foles over Jimmy.

At this point yes. He will be a lot cheaper and wont cost a pick. With Baker and Nick out there nobody is trading for Jimmy. Definitely since essentially everyone is set with their QB. Nick will be cheap. Baker with be cheap pick wise.

There is 0 point in keeping Jimmy past when he can pass his physical unless you are willing to let him compete for the starting job. Don't wait for someone to get injured because they will most likely choose Baker bc he wont cost much.

I really don't see Jimmy starting anywhere week 1 this year unless he is cut by training camp. If the 49ers have any kind of respect for Jimmy they would cut him asap. Playing it out further is a bad look for them bc they are screwing him over. Bc players/agents see what goes on. Unless they are giving him a chance to compete and not a bogus one

They could wait until a starter goes down early and it would an horrible news but that starter could Lance…in this case I would be pretty « happy » that JG is still there

This is a business. You don't make decisions that could cost you a decent comp pick or better by doing something that is nice for a player. There is no reason to cut him as soon as he gets healthy, might as well wait until after TC in the event someone gets injured(long shot yes). We aren't signing some lucrative free agent now. Lots of scenarios with the "what if" game, but only thing we gain by cutting him ASAP as opposed to waiting is his feelings and fans can get over the Jimmy G saga.

Regardless, Jimmy already incurred Bad Karma for intentional late surgery. He will be playing for a bad team traded or cut, his own decision to delay everyone and himself, the inevitable of being dumped, his 26M+ best used else where.

Tyrann Matthieu would absolutely help this team a ton this year. I'd rather have him for this and future years over a possible 3rd round comp pick in 2024.

Definitely since the comp pick isn't even guaranteed.

If we wanted Matthieu or if he wanted us Jimmy's contract wouldn't stop us from signing him. Same as Deebo or anyone else. Jimmy gone would make things easier but it is stopping nothing.

If Trey went down, then you still cut Jimmy and get Nick Foles instead.

Foles had an amazing 2017 3 game playoff run in which he had a QB rating of 115.7, 72.6% completion rate, 971 passing yards, 6 tds , 1 td catch, 1 int, and Super Bowl MVP while beating Tom Brady.

That crushes Jimmy's pathetic 7 game playoff stats with a 74.1 QB rating, 60.6% completion rates, 962 yards, 4 tds, 6 ints.

No team is trading a draft pick in order to pay $25 million for subpar talent when there are better and cheaper options. At this point, if the FO doesn't cut him as soon as he's healthy, then they're being delusional.

You heard it here first!!!

What would really be hilarious is if the team lets Jimmy go into training camp and he beats Lance out again for the starting gig. Can't even imagine the number of guys in here who would have to go into therapy to deal with their disappointment. If it weren't for the fact that such an unlikely scenario would make this place 500 times more toxic than it already is I would get a pretty good laugh out of it if it actually happened.

Nick Foles. Of course. Why didn't we think of that. He's the answer. Lets dump jimmy a top 15 qb for nick foles because of his 3 game hot streak four years ago.

Is this a real thread? This is supposed to be a thtead about the player jimmy garoppolo not a reddit subforum where a bunch of gaslit neurotic dweebs share mutual hatreds. Yet here we are.
