Lynch says we're not going to cut Jimmy.
So now we have to hope some QB around the league has a bad injury. Great.
Or we keep a super expensive backup QB…
Or Jimmy starts, we further delay Lance's development and the whole league thinks we're a clown show…

Why? What's the obsession?
Hearing you, and not sure about the obsession either. To me, for some posters and what they continue to throw up in this thread, it's very revealing in a few ways.
Yes, it would have been incredible if he could have done more to help to pull out that SB and get #6 for this franchise. And then, done more to get past the Rams last year (and after that, helped to win last year's SB - I think that team would have handled the Bengals again). Still makes me as pissed as anyone in thinking about all of it.
I have as high expectations for the QB position and for this franchise as any fellow fan in having seen (and remembering clearly) the excellence in bringing home five SBs without a loss. That said, I can also appreciate the mostly very good QB play from Garoppolo during his time here in helping this team get back to winning, winning 35 of the 51 games he started (yes, helping - but also playing a key part many times at the most position in sports over those 51 games).
Along the way, he also helped this team put up 27 ppg., win nine games with late-game key drives, and go 4-2 in the playoffs (many teams don't have ANY recent playoff victories...the Steelers, maybe the top all-time NFL franchise, haven't won a playoff game since 2016).
It's comical to see some of these posts trying so hard to tear Garoppolo down and pick apart plays/missed opportunities here and there. Yes, his streaky play at times was frustrating...his occasional bad decision making/TOs had me screaming at the TV...yes, all the injuries were frustrating...and again, coming up short in the SB & NFCCG. Yet for some posters in here and their football takes pertaining to Garoppolo as an NFL QB...let's just say it tells me all I need to know and it's not worth the time of day.
In going forward, just have to hope Lance is that guy to lead the team and not just be better than Garoppolo but help get this franchise over the hump in winning more SBs.

Yeah that's it. Nobody cares about the $27 million cap hit for a backup, smh. Jimmy had a noodle arm before surgery and won't even be able to throw at TC. How could there possibly be a competition? I've said multiple times I'd like to keep him. At Sudfeld's price tag. Think he'd be a darn good backup and already knows the system.

If Jimmy's starting, it's because Lance isn't working out and yes, it's a clown show. Jimmy should not win a competition he won't have any reps for.

Who's the last QB that someone spent 3 1st round drafts pick for that still doesn't have the organizations full support as the starter in his second year because if some 3rd winningest QB in the league scrub?
Whataboutism so to answer your question, I don't know and don't care tbh.

The minute they give him their full support Jimmys trade value plummets. If they know Jimmy playing isn't a possibility why wouldn't they just wait till he's cut?
Do you really think a minor injury is causing all this? No it's the team has a value they want to get for Jimmy and they don't want to come off it. Has nothing to do with Trey. Problem is the rest of the teams doesn't value Jimmy much either. If they did they would've made the move. Panthers would rather have a dude with all sorts of personal issues and a limited skill set as their future. It says a lot.
Team doesn't want a 26 million dollar backup QB.

The bold is all that really matters. Actions speak louder than words. And the lack of action (interest) re JG tells everyone exactly what the professionals think of JG.
The reality is the 49ers thought so highly of JG they gave up their future for a kid with minimal college experience. 31 NFL teams would rather have QBs many people here consider lower / bottom tier, over JG. Too funny. Keep up the good fight JG homers.

Jimmy gonna need to take a fat paycut if he's willing to even stay.
Let's not all forget Lances' first NFL throw.
