I still find it hard to believe anyone will trade for Jimmy. I recently said that there's a possibility of Jimmy landing in Cleveland. But that's with the understanding he'll be cut.
And I hope everyone learned something from this offseason. It doesn't matter how many QBs you have Jimmy rated higher than, there's many other factors that would make a team choose player A vs player B, because coaching history, team evaluation/how much was asked of you, contracts, and injury history are all clearly taken into account.
Yup. This is like Schefter said. He was a 2nd round in comp.. maybe more.. but the injury and him not being able to throw during the offseason killed trade interest.. in his opinion.. I find Schefter generally knows his stuff pretty well.
In a way it's JG's fault go back to the Titans play where he gets hurt.. held the ball way too long on that one.
What kills teams trade interest isn't the injury, it's his contract in conjuction with who he is.
Why would teams pay 25+ million a year if they know Niners have no leverage and likely to release him altogether and then you get to sign him at like 15m cheaper ? The only reason is if they really viewed him as a valuable asset and prevent other teams taking him. But he's not. At best he is viewed as a stopgap or bridge. You don't pay stopgap that kind of money. No one is in line to pay a guy who can't throw deep or outside the numbers, is a statue, has injury history, throws bad picks and has mental mistakes.... all with a genius playcaller coach and bunch of studs on offense.
If Jimmy was paid 10m, he might have been dealt already. Yes the injury history and injury are a concern, but it's just compounding issues. A talented qb whom teams compete to get a stab at, this injury is a near non-story. Like another dude said imagine some other QB had this injury. Let's say Russell Wilson. Nothing changes in that case.
