This reminds me of a narrative I've heard about David Carr in Houston. That Texans team was absolutely atrocious, but some of his teammates came out later and talked about how he viewed being quarterback as a 9 to 5 type deal. Not a sociable guy with teammates, didn't put in extra work. He was in when practice started, out as soon as it was over. I remember Carr talking years later about how he didn't realize how intensely the great QBs prepare/hone their craft until he got to backup Eli in NY.
Not saying JG doesn't work his craft, but the little things DO matter at the most important position. It's strange to hear all the bad words come out against Jimmy now, with former teammates in New England, and now someone who used to be on this coaching staff. I have no idea what's true and what's not, other than he was a decent starter for us, just not quite good enough to get over the hump, and the coaches no doubt did a great job hiding his weaknesses.
Yea, Jimmy never seemed like he wanted to put in the work. Very much so a 9-5 type. He probably hated playing in the playoffs because it interfered with his off-season vacation plans. That might explain his drop-off in play during the postseason.
I'm glad that Trey seems like a grinder. Not that QBs should spend 365 days a year working, but you can't take all of February-July off either.
