To be honest, I'm actually surprised it took them three games to figure it out. If there was one weakness in our defense last year, it's that the cornerbacks weren't necessarily as strong as the front 7 and safeties. If there was a "blueprint" to beating our defense last year, that's it. Fortunately for us, there are few offenses in the league that are good enough and disciplined to beat our defense like that.

Good post.. consider Rams won by 3 with HOF players all over the D and Kupp a triple crown WR.. we have busted up JG, OL was blown up, Tartt was doing his Stonehands impression.. and we still hung with em.

This year I guarantee KS has figured out Cooper Kupp he won't be getting his so easy anymore.. we already made a move to get some help Mr. Womack also CWard.. it's a game of adjustments we won't be defending Kupp like we did last year..

Seems like it. Even if the Browns were interested, are they really going to pay him $25 million and give up a draft pick just to get him in the building a week earlier? If they wait until we cut him, they can probably sign him for about $5 million.

SoCold, where have you been all offseason.. good points I have been mentioning this.. ppl mock JGs playoff numbers.. there would be no playoffs without JG.. just as there were no playoffs without him in 2018 and 2020.

The win in spite of JG narrative blows up when you consider as you mention.. on the road vs HOF eventual SB Champ D... 1:27 left.. no timeouts.. length of field.. gotta have it drive.. JG made all the throws

Heres the thing 49F6....

While the underline is true, it doesnt excuse the italic.....which is how you are presenting it. Yes, Jimmy played well when it counted and won the Rams game for us at the end. But he absolutely s**t the bed in the playoffs (again), and that should also be acknowledged. Just because he played well at the end of the Rams game, doesnt mean its ok that he played like s**t in the playoffs.

They won't be paying him $25M, they'll negotiate a lower contract with him.

how did that week 18 start out ?... we don't win if we don't take the ball out of jimmy's hands and run 100 times in a row and have someone else throw a TD pass

Exactly.
Why give up draft capital when he will be a FA in 2 weeks? That 2 weeks isn't going to make or break a team.

I mean, I agree with you on that too. I dont think Jimmy played a particularly good game overall that day, but he certainly played well when it mattered.

yeah he does some good. but his main issue all year was consistency. it was really Jekyll or hyde out there from game to game... sometimes in the same game

We still have the hostage?
The last 27 seasons the 49ers have made the playoffs 11 times. 5 different QBs. 0 SB wins.

Steve Young only choked 4 years in a row after winning it all.
Garcia choked twice.
Smith choked once.
Kap choked twice.
Jimmy choked twice.

wow that's a lot of choking
Losing =/= choking

Not all of those are chokes.
Move on, release him already!! Unless they plan on having a 27mil backup

I'm not so sure he'd want to sign with Browns as a FA. It basically puts him right back in this situation after next season, with Watson returning. If they're the only team to offer him a contract, sure. But if they have to compete with others for his services, seems like he'd want a longer term situation.
