They have a stretch of Chargers, Patriots, Ravens, Bengals, Dolphins, Bills, and Bucs.... with Brissett they probably lose all 7... with Jimmy they probably still lose half. I doubt they trade for him for only 11 games.... unless he agrees to a massive pay cut. Like down to 12mil

Trading for Jimmy allows them to win probably 4-6 of the 11 games, where Brissett would win 2-4 in that stretch. He's essentially 2 (+/- a game) more valuable than Brissett (which could be enough to make the playoffs if Watson returns and immediately cooks).

I agree it makes sense but I don't see the Browns doing it. They probably think that Brissett can keep them around .500. Which I disagree but I just don't see it happening. I live in Browns country and the team is stupid

They have a brutal schedule. If they think Brissett is going to tread water, they're insane.

I heard that if they trade Jimmy in the season they can carry over part of that money to next year or something like that. Is that true?

No I didn't believe that's true. Jimmy is only signed for one yr. There's no money to carry over. After the final roster cuts his contract for the yr is FGTD…if he gets moved in season then the team trading for him would take on whatever is left of his GTD cash in 2022.

he's not gonna be on the SF roster after august 30.

Waste of a roster spot. We'd lose a valuable back up at some other position just to carry someone who has zero chance of being with the team. Hes going to get released.

They said The Rams did that to be able to sign guys last year

If Browns would rather lose then give up a conditional pick and a revamped one yr deal for Jimmy. Then that's on them. Good luck selling Brissett to the browns for 11 games

NY this is a franchise that gave up 3 ones for a suspended pervert. Making correct decisions is in their DNA, they are the Browns.

If I was the GM I'd rather wait til Jimmys eventual release, and get into a bidding war with the few teams who want Jimmy.

Yes, that total salary is pro rated over the 17 games so whenever they decide to cut/trade him, they are paying on a game-by-game basis. Albeit, expensive game-by-game basis. The rest will carry over to the cap for next year.

Bidding war

I've been waiting 6 months for this

You get an extra 2 weeks with Jimmy in the building if you make a move. And you can dictate terms to Jimmy's people because like you said, they could wait til he's cut.

They obviously signed him with the idea of him being the starter for this year. I don't see them trading for him.

He will get cut, and then whatever team wants him will sign him, probably SEA.
