Cc, might want to add the Jets to that list. Cartilage "injury" to Wilson and "he'll.be back in 2-3 weeks " is plain old horse doodoo. It is possible, but…

Sure wish Lombardi was still the GM of the Browns. He said he would definitely trade for Jimmy given the recent Watson news.

All the analyst's on ESPN are saying it's going to happen.

Yea the Browns have B+ weapons on offense and an A- to B Defense. They were 5th in the year in pass defense and top 12 overall. From what I hear they may have gotten better. They have a win now team. If you roll into the season with Jacoby let's smoke the Brisket, you're telling the team and fans "Welp we tried with Watson. This probably won't work but oh well." If you roll with Jimmy then you still have a shot to stay competitive those first 11 games.

Plus, it might be for more than 11 games. Watson is probably not going to be ready week 12. With Jimmy, they don't have to rush him back.

Can Jimmy even stay healthy for 11 games?

Yeah, he can stay healthy.

He hasn't had a healthy 11 game stretch since 2019.

He hasn't done s**t all offseason. He's due for a stretch of good health.

I'm not saying he won't get signed once he is released but you have to believe that health is the biggest issue that is running through the minds of GM's when considering trading for him.

i know! Its very underrated.
If he's not traded today he's getting cut.

Why would they lose a player? If he's cut on his way down to 53 there is no player lost. Am I missing something? Unless you are talking about the cut to 80 lol. Which the 5 cut to make 80 had no chance anyways.

Still too much asking price

ok, we got 3 teams maybe interested... its just do they think they can wait.. claim him after august 30th and hope he can learn their stuff. i used to think we need to cut him four weeks ago. but i now understand why the need is there to hold onto him.. even if i do not want to. i am usually very late in catching up. sorry

If more than one team has a strong interest then they aren't going to gamble on letting him go into free agency. That would create a bidding war which I doubt any team wants to get into for an often injured 30 year old QB.

The Browns would still make the most sense. However when I look at their schedule I think they could win at least 3 of their first 4 games even without Jimmy. Carolina, Jets, Steelers and Falcons. Looking at their next 7 I doubt they can win more than one or two even with Jimmy. Chargers, Patriots, Ravens, Bengals, Dolphins, Bills and Bucs. All those teams except NE and maybe Miami hav ebetter teams and better QBs.

So it really comes down to how many more wins are they going to get with Jimmy? Two? Maybe 3? That's assuming he fits in quickly and doesn't get hurt.

i am sorry,,, i just thought if they kept him.. then we would have to dump a guy who could help us in some area.. we have so many good running backs and wide outs.... i just thought for example if we kept jimmy... maybe hasty may go and that would suck... i dunno.... i am probably wrong.. sorry..

thank you. i depend on good smart posters like you... that would be great if your theory was true and maybe we could get a mid or late round pick for jimmy .... again. as you said. depending on the level of their interest
Should we trade Jimmy for a player?

Safety?
Center?

Maybe teams don't want to part with draft picks but would give up a player.
Let's look at Jimmy to the Seahawks. Im only see 4-5 games that the Seahawks will be favored to win no matter who their QB is. At least 2 of those are probably tossups. So is it worth it for them to sign Jimmy so they can win 5 games instead of 2 or 3. That would take them out of the chance to draft a QB next year in what is supposed to be a good draft. Even if Jimmy and the rest of the team played way over their head and they won 7 games, they aren't making the playoffs so what's the point.

I doubt that any safety or center that a team would give up is going to make the Niners roster. Teams don't trade good centers.

I'd do that.
