Maybe teams don't want to part with draft picks but would give up a player.

I'd do that.

Teams aren't giving up starters with 3 weeks to go to the season. We don't need back ups.

Ahh gotcha. Trust there is no way JG is on the 53 roster just like there was no way this team would part ways with Deebo.

Didn't last week they said they will hold JG to the last moment if no trade develops? That and again the fact he hasn't taken a single practice snap, been in the meeting rooms or hasn't even acted like he still wants to be here… he's as good as gone. It's just about seeing if anyone will throw a draft pick at him regardless of round before the 30th. Then we can archive this thread and get back to what matters… wobbling balls ;)

i never worried we would lose deebo........ i am sort of not worried jimmy will be on the roster.lol. unless someone comes to us with a trade offer like the browns cuz they want jimmy in asap to learn the plays... yes... i am fine holding him until the last possible second.... i am very happy he is no where around the team or camp or trey.. we do not need that.... do you think trey ad his wobbly balls will play this weekend or will it all be about nate and brock as cc changes subjects

IF they even have a interest

If more than one team has a strong interest then they aren't going to gamble on letting him go into free agency. That would create a bidding war which I doubt any team wants to get into for an often injured 30 year old QB.

The Browns would still make the most sense. However when I look at their schedule I think they could win at least 3 of their first 4 games even without Jimmy. Carolina, Jets, Steelers and Falcons. Looking at their next 7 I doubt they can win more than one or two even with Jimmy. Chargers, Patriots, Ravens, Bengals, Dolphins, Bills and Bucs. All those teams except NE and maybe Miami hav ebetter teams and better QBs.

So it really comes down to how many more wins are they going to get with Jimmy? Two? Maybe 3? That's assuming he fits in quickly and doesn't get hurt.

thank you. i depend on good smart posters like you... that would be great if your theory was true and maybe we could get a mid or late round pick for jimmy .... again. as you said. depending on the level of their interest

Thanks for including me in the smart poster group. I wouldn't depend on my opinions too much though. I'm just another fan with ideas like 99% of the other posters. I just try and view things like trades from both sides rather than just from our side.

Seventy years of being a fan makes you cautious and wise.

I wasn't talking about a starter, we already know we aren't getting that for JG.

I'm talking about a player for depth while also getting rid of JG. I think it's that or nothing for JG.

I also think our F/O is getting back at JG for the surgery BS that he pulled, look at how quickly they released Keesaun Johnson & Dennard so that they could be picked up by other teams. Jimmy is getting a level of treatment that I don't believe I've ever seen from a NFL franchise. He is literally working out on another field while the team is getting ready for the season and everyone knows he won't be on the roster. He pissed someone off big time!

Cc, might want to add the Jets to that list. Cartilage "injury" to Wilson and "he'll.be back in 2-3 weeks " is plain old horse doodoo. It is possible, but…

ok, we got 3 teams maybe interested... its just do they think they can wait.. claim him after august 30th and hope he can learn their stuff. i used to think we need to cut him four weeks ago. but i now understand why the need is there to hold onto him.. even if i do not want to. i am usually very late in catching up. sorry

Well, 3 teams possible, but a couple weeks ago i posed the question, "if CLEVE offered Jimmy the job…would he take it?" A quick reply was, "Of course he would"

1st of all it IS CLEVE…the dumpster fire of all dumpster fires, who signed Watson to the biggest GTD contract in NFL. Watson, BTW, yesterday, stated "he was a new man and really didn't think he had done anything wrong." I could imagine Jimmy wondering what kind of atmosphere that would be like to play for, since he has always been an upfront guy with a good rep.

On top of that, he would theoretically be hired to just play 11 games and then hand it over to Watson. Man, cc, i have a hard time understanding how a guy like JG would go for something like that. Just hard to believe he would take his talents and his rep to CLEVE under those conditions. F.O, coaching, and ownership are all questionable. As for their record…it speaks for itself. I could see CLeve offering Jimmy a low ball 2.5 mil or something like that for a yr, but nothing more. Would JG really want to go to toxic CLEVE and then just play 11 games? Just hard to imagine.

I thought it was reported somewhere that he wouldn't play. I'd prefer him not to and then use the third game for a couple series as a warm up for when it matters. This could really be the most bland game of the 3. Get Sudfield some more time in the pocket but really force the run and see which lineman can pull it off and find out which RBs want it the most and answer that big question.

Maybe force the issue with some of the back up TEs too and see who excels. But for the most part I think they know who they like and want… so like 80% of the roster is already decided. Now it's up to those last guys to make an argument to keep them when questions like do we keep 3 QBs or go with 9 lineman, 6 RBs or 6 Wrs etc. this is a good game for people who probably won't even dress for game days can influence those decisions.

If it was his only offer? He would take it. None of these guys sit for a year if they can play instead. And if you believe in yourself,as every QB must, and does, you think it's an audition for your next job.

yepo,, furlow told me they planned not have him play,. i just missed that.. i was probably self medicating somewhere. thank you.. i get furlow saying trey needs work but i think i would rather have this be about our second and third qbs.. the running backs and basically all the stuff you said. thank you

In all fairness to your dad I worked in the high tech industry most of my working career. I was using computers before most people had one. I'm going to post something about the changes I've seen in the NFL during those years as well as the great 49er memories. Probably the week before the season starts.

Just think if we had a Steve Young thread back when he choked against Green Bay three years in a row.
