In all fairness to your dad I worked in the high tech industry most of my working career. I was using computers before most people had one. I'm going to post something about the changes I've seen in the NFL during those years as well as the great 49er memories. Probably the week before the season starts.
Just think if we had a Steve Young thread back when he choked against Green Bay three years in a row.
True but I'm not going to put the blame on Young. The Packers had a great run during that time. Favre was in his prime with Holmgren coaching. They had some great receivers and a good enough defense to slow any team.

Playoffs is most likely the reason no one wants him.

You and I understand that. NT thinks 1 missed throw from Alex, Kap and Jimmy cost them 3 Super Bowls. lol

I'm talking about a player for depth while also getting rid of JG. I think it's that or nothing for JG.
I also think our F/O is getting back at JG for the surgery BS that he pulled, look at how quickly they released Keesaun Johnson & Dennard so that they could be picked up by other teams. Jimmy is getting a level of treatment that I don't believe I've ever seen from a NFL franchise. He is literally working out on another field while the team is getting ready for the season and everyone knows he won't be on the roster. He pissed someone off big time!
😂
Well serves him right then because if you can dish then you can take it

Montana revealed in the documentary about him that he was told to stay away from the 49ers facility while he was recuperating from his elbow injury and George Seifert was transitioning to Steve Young. They didn't want to send mixed signals and potentially distract the locker room. I think that's why Jimmy is being separated, not because they are pissed at him. He needs to stay fit and prepare for his next gig. The team needs for him to not injure himself or appear to contradict the narrative that this is now Trey Lance's team. Shame he has zero trade value. I'm surprised. He can play at a top-15 QB level, but the injury history and head scratching picks make people unwilling to pay $25 mil a year. Maybe the Niners could eat part of his salary to facilitate a trade, but I assume they don't think the late round draft pick compensation they'll get in return is even worth it and are simply praying that Brady retires, or some other QB gets struck by lightning in the next 10 days.

Young finally beating GB only to have Garrison Hearst blow out his ankle on the first play against Atlanta. smdh 49ers could have 20 Super Bowls by now.

Feels like it's 50/50. I dont doubt there were trade offers for him early on, probably not as high as reported cause when have reports ever been accurate (See Deebo.)
But the FO seemed to be doing him a solid and letting him evaluate where he wanted to go based on what people were offering. Maybe the best offer was somewhere he didnt want to go or a lowball offer just wasnt acceptable to the FO but he wanted to end up there... pure hypotheticals but whatever they were or how the timing worked out, JG just said f*ck it I'm getting surgery.
No doubt that probably irked some people depending on that decision and how close a prospective trade may have been, we dont know. But once it was done and came out, the FO probably just said "Cool you do you, we hope a trade forms but if not we are going to position ourselves for the slim possibility there are any partners now." No sides are talking smack, it's just what it is. He did what is best for him which hurt his trade chances and now the FO is doing what is best for them, dont think there is any ill will but doubtful they would do him a solid like cutting him early even if it's a 1% chance to catch a 7th for him.

Eh, if he didn't have the shoulder surgery there would probably have been at least a 4th round pick for him. But his injury rehab time just made it pointless for a team to trade anything for him when he's sure to be released in a couple weeks anyway.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. It did Garoppolo no favors to have no team to truly be tied to until 10 days before the season, either.

The current F/O had nothing to do with the Montana/Steve Young situation. Eddie D was the owner and Carmen Policy along with Bill Walsh were calling the shots re the roster.

No you are correct. Sf can keep him past the 8/30 53 man cuts... Until 9/10.... And yes potentially someone who contributes may be at risk to go to another team.
