A trade is basically off the table.

Don't know what can happen in the league with the extra 10 days. But, I'm fine with either decision.

I think you're on point regarding what he wants now. I wonder, though, why JG did not demand his release earlier (perhaps the 49ers would not allow it, IDK). It seems to me more time would have proved beneficial, perhaps not for this year, but for his prospects next year (more time with his new team, more time with the new playbook, better chance to succeed / play well, etc.).

I kind of want him to be cut at the 53 so we don't waste a roster spot on him...I doubt a team can pick him up in 10 days and get him ready to play...but I guess crazier things have happened.
Best place for Jimmy to go to and get paid is either Atlanta or Washington, neither QB's will be there long, they will both end up tanking the season if they don't get Jimmy.

They both offer Jimmy a shot at becoming a starter this year.

Teams are going to be playing their starter this last preseason game. So, something can possibly happen to someone's QB. But, what - they're only going to be playing them a couple of series, so it's really a long shot an injury happens.

I think the QB situation would speed things up, I.e. not waiting till the day before week 1. I don't want to lose Purdy to keep Jimmy, for example. Or if keeping Jimmy means we lose Mason or another promising rookie on the bubble. Personally, I think it's pretty clear that - absent an injury to a starting QB - nobody is trading for Jimmy and he'll be cut, or so it seems - sadly. He's a good QB. He'll win somebody a lot of games. Hopefully not Seadderall. I hate that team and some of it's fans. 💀

In a perfect world I still wish the Niners could get him to re-structure for like $10-15 million.
-Have a perfect backup plan if anything happens to Trey
-Save $10-15 Million in cap space
-Can wait until later in the season to see if a contender suddenly needs a QB and then they have leverage to get something good for him
-The team and players have already moved on so I don't see it being a big locker room issue
-From Jimmy's perspective he gets to backup on a potential SB team instead of backing up for some s**t team
-If he does get to play this season it will either be for the Niners because he has to, or he gets traded to be a starter because someone else needs him

I realize none of what I wrote is happening so I guess if he ends up in Seattle then it will probably mean he helps them get to 7-10 wins which means they are not really a threat, BUT they also don't get a good draft pick next year which is a plus to delay any rebuild efforts.

This is why Seattle won't even pick him up. 7-10 wins means they miss out on the top qb prospects due to a lower draft slot.

Draft slots are not what they used to be. Teams can easily move up if desperate enough. Plus they have draft capital from the Wilson trade

Maybe Jimmy is content with hanging up his cleats and getting out while he is still mostly in one piece.
