I'd rather keep Jimmy all year provided the media noise doesn't become overwhelming to the point Kyle has to answer, "are you considering a QB change", every time the 49ers lose a game. Jimmy as a backup makes the team better on gamedays, and I don't see a team blowing the 49ers away with an offer they can't refuse midseason.
The "we want Jimmy chants" will be loud and deafening should the 9ers stumble out of the starting gate like they did last season.
Keeping JG has backup was the smart thing to do after restructuring his contract, but I also think It could put more pressure on Lance to exceed expectations.
If that happens early in the season that will be the single most idiotic thing 49ers fans have ever done.
At least with fans chanting "we want Carr" to Alex Smith, Smith had years to prove himself, albeit with a new offensive coordinator every season and terrible roster/coaching.
If Trey is playing so terrible that our fans have to chant "we want Jimmy" then he's a legit bust. Plain and simple.
Personally I think there is literally zero to worry about with Jimmy and I actually think he will be beneficial to Trey. Trey is a big boy and can handle a little pressure.
We have fans calling Trey a bust before he played a down, and still today after only starting two games. What makes you think our fans are reasonable enough to know what "playing so terrible" is?

I'm in the Jimmy thread because I like Jimmy, as a QB and as a person/leader/personality. He's a Niner, so I root for him. It makes sense why I'm here. WHY ARE YOU HERE? Same goes for Strwy, 49erRing, etc. Why come to a thread to talk about a player that you don't like, root against, and want off the team? And now he's the backup, so won't be playing, so it makes even less sense why you're here. But at least you attempt to talk about football, as little as you know about the game and the position of QB. So I'll give you that. Strwy posts NOTHING about football (sorry TH, counting the days as backup is not "about football" that's just silly talk), yet here you are "defending" him.
you really don't get it huh.. what you just said, there is an equal opposite side to that. There are opinions in every angle cause no angle is 100%
but the little i know in the QB position seems to line up in what little Kyle knows also
Strwy doesn't have "opinions," he just spews the same hateful nonsense over and over. Why do you defend it?
And what you "know" about the QB position does not line up with Kyle, because you said/say Jimmy is trash and wanted him cut. Kyle thinks he's a starter in the NFL and is paying him top dollar plus some possible serious bonuses to stay on the team. And gave him a no trade clause and no tag clause.
