Yes. I'd be tempted to re-sign him if he makes a noticeable improvement from last year (maybe shoulder surgery changes something?) and gets us to the NFCCG again. Trey is proving to be a pretty breakable player and STILL needs the year of experience that we all said he needed this year. If Jimmy wins the SB, Trey would be his backup or trade bait.

His shoulder won't change anything. Comes down to him taking the shots down the field. If he does that and is a big part of the run instead of just a bystander then it's a conversation to have.

You don't know that it won't. A corrective surgery to a throwing shoulder can change a lot.
Thought his arm looked pretty good yesterday. Glad he was resigned

Totally forgot about that, no TC, no Preseason and no meaningful reps in practice leading up to the game.

Lol did you say that when Lance played vs AZ last yr? Damn near the same thing and all I heard was how bad he is.

Either way glad we got Jimmy and can still play competitive football this yr

Why are you s**tting on Jimmy Compliments?

Sorry he stepped in and saved the day.

Hopefully he can last the entire season. Trey out after week 2!!??

Before you know it starter Purdy is gonna be knocked out and we will be signing Kaepernick off the street

Haha... Krapertrash was dumped by KS and Lynch already, no one wants him for anything football related ever again 🤣

Actually think Purdy might be a good prospect if Trey doesn't pan out in the long run similar to RG3 and Kirk Cousins situation in WASHINGTON..

He didn't have a shoulder injury until the playoffs. HIm not taking shots (or missing the ones he took) was the issue most of last season. That is the difference for this team. It can't be just over the middle and hope the run game works.

Throw to Aiyuk 1 on 1. You get PI's.

Yes, if they are a winning team this year it would be risky to go into next year without him.
If the 49ers aren't a playoff team this year it would be easier just to go all in on Trey 2.0.

They probably got to look at bringing him back longer. Trey was completely overwhelmed in his playing time. Not reading the field well. Not accurate. Injury prone. Missed 3 years by the time he will start. Not sure you can count on that.

A little worried Jimmy's oline is worse this season over last year. They've already gotten one qb killed.

They would need to pay him a lot more than they are this year. Would Jimmy sign with them knowing that they still plan on Trey being the starter?

Only way I see the deal happening is if it's a long term contract with promises of an actual competition. I don't see stubborn Kyle doing that. Jimmy will probably sign elsewhere after being mishandled by this front office.

O line did that did they?

Nope, unless he's willing to back up again.

I say if win a super bowl, I'm all for resigning Jimmy and scrapping the Trey Lance project (as costly as it was). I hope we have that problem. You guys are crazy if you think Trey would've been named the starter if we won a chip last season. If we win a chip, it's Jimmy's team and you all know it.

It's possible but the trajectory of Trey spells real trouble so far. 3 missed years and coming off major injury effecting his mobility. Which is his best part. I just don't see how he succeeds at this point. A 3rd year rookie. The guys in his class will be light years ahead by the time he starts playing.
