The way Jimmy was throwing deep to Aiyuk and Gray makes me believe Jimmy has nothing to lose either. Let's see YOLO Jimmy. Effective? Who knows. Entertaining? You betcha.

He's gonna make us regret drafting Lance and win us a super bowl.

If Jimmy wins the SB this year and leaves I will have no regrets. That's still a SB win and a potential young QB that could win for us for many years following him up in 2023.

I mean, winning the SB with Jimmy this year is literally the best scenario right now.

LOL at everyone who thinks we have a better shot at winning a SB now. We were going to need an other worldly defensive season and a dominant rushing game regardless, just like any past success we've had with Shanahan.

In 6 playoff games Jimmy averages 160 yards per game, 60% comp., and only has 4 passing TD's. You think he's going to factor in to our Super Bowl run? When the playoffs come around we're all just holding our breath hoping he doesn't throw a stupid pick. How has everyone forgot about this already?

We went far multiple times with him already. No reason he can't again. Same QB and the same team.

Not the same team. Hopefully they have upgraded enough to carry Jimmy G over the hump and win a SB this season (they were going to have to carry Trey too due to his inexperience also anyways, so the only thing they loss yesterday was development for Trey but that could mean a more team friendly deal with Trey later down the line and Trey can still sit and mature and learn this season because they still have Jimmy, still works out at the end for this season so be grateful as a 9er fan, and f**k EVIL PETE, HE DESERVE TO LOSE AND RETIRE IN SHAME).

Secondary is the best it's been in years. The front 7 is still excellent. We can still run the ball. This team can go pretty far.
The classic blunders checklist:

1. Land wars in Asia
2. Going against a Sicilian when death is on the line
3. Betting against contract year Jimmy G

Even if he helps win a SB, he's not going to be back. Just hope evil Pete doesn't snatch him in free agency next year 🤣

NFL football is a cutthroat brutal sport and business, whatever it takes to win it all and get it done ✔

Suddenly the guy that was good but not good enough to get us over the hump is going to take us all the way. As long as he doesn't screw up too much and manages to stay healthy he can at least get the team to the playoffs because the defense is going to keep the scores low in most games. He won't be asked to do much more than 150-200 yards per game with 1 TD pass.

I would like to see some of this get mixed in. He looked damn good in spread with the Pats. The Dolphins game is on YouTube if you haven't seen it yet. And IIRC when he first got here we did some of that as well, and looked good. Let him take advantage of his quick release and max out our YAC guys.
I liked that there were some throws to the sideline and outside the numbers yesterday. They need more of those each game along with the quick slants and screens. The schedule is gonna get tougher and it's cool they got the win against a s**tty Seahawks team. But if they really wanna be a contender and make it deep in the playoffs, the ball needs to be thrown downfield. I'm looking at you Kyle, Jimmy said it yesterday it felt like 2017 again for him letting it rip. Don't handcuff Jimmy Kyle and this team can get the number one seed again. Along with the run game being strong with Wilson, Deebo, Price and Mason.

Unfortunately Kyle is an absolute control freak...he's winning it his way or bust.
Interesting that post game Jimmy said of coming off the bench that it's like riding a bike. Familiarity with everything.
First time I've heard Jimmy kinda speak up though, was that he followed up with, 'Kyle knows what I like and he knows what I don't like.'
There may be some room to grow freedom within the structure and have Jimmy more loose.
Kyle could use a little schoolyard ball in this offense.

After this injury not so sure it's a guarantee, kid has barely played football going back to 2019. I can see more competition being either brought in or resigned for the job next offseason than many here are expecting despite the investment made.

He hasn't played badly.

In a second half and four starts he has:

SEA - played well coming in for injured Jimmy.

ARZ - played like a rookie making his first start. Not great, but not bad, either.

HOU - played well, helping team win in order to keep playoffs alive

CHI - played uneven in a rainstorm

SEA - Played well leading a couple scoring drives, injured on 2nd to last play of a 2nd FG drive

That's not playing badly. That's simply too small of a sample size to know how well he's gonna play.

So you take a second shot at what they were planning this year: develop him slowly, and see what he can become when getting some playing time under his belt.

He has been seriously injured in half of his starts and he has to recover from what might be very severe ankle injury.

I wasn't tripping on where he was in his development. I am tripping over him being injury prone and/or damaged goods.

That is contextually misleading. Now if he had gotten injured on a drop back, you know playing quarterback then you could say he was injury prone.

He got injured twice (Counting AZ, 16 runz) while he acting as a FB and trying to run the football. One could argue that his being used improperly put him in a position to get injured, at the very least it elevated those risks.

I know I know this is football, people get hurt, next man up. But you gotta protect something so valuable you sacrificed 3 first rounders on it. Had he dropped back more, he may not be injured.

I read it somewhere that Mike McDaniels turned his QB into Dan Marino and Shanny turned his into a spectator. They aren't lying there.

In the end, of course we all support Jimmy. There is a reason his replacement was drafted though. Cannot forget that. Let's see how he plays.

Yessir.. contract year Jimmy
Let's look at the positives
1.) This thread will hit 10,000 pages as written in the scripture
2.) Jimmy's arm did have a little more pep to it. Maybe i'm crazy but I thought it did
3.) Jimmy is familiar and the team loves him. He's good for 3 TD drives a game
4.) Still elite defense IMO. We should be in every game just because of them
5.) My hemorrhoid has cleared up
5.) We will get Mitchell, Kittle, and Ward back eventually
6.) Still SB caliber roster? Maybe, maybe not. Definitely playoff caliber

Negatives:
1.) Is our rushing attack still good? I'm not so sure.
2.) Injured Lance. Lost potential
3.) Offense cannot carry if defense is struggling
4.) Cold sores on lips forming
5.) A not-so-humble coach. He's good but cannot get out of his own way.
6.) Poor depth now at QB if Jimmy goes down
7.) Offense always stalls for several drives in the second half

That's all I got for now. The positives out-weigh the negatives

To be fair to Jimmy, those 3 games last year he played injured, which did impact his play.

Now, that's not to say I'm expecting him to turn it up another level that he's yet to show.

At least with Jimmy there's still a chance at a SB win. Very few teams can say that with their backup QB at the start of the season. Some do win the SB, usually with great defense (1990 Giants, 2000 Ravens, 2001 Patriots).

A totally raw Lance was not that much worse than a veteran Jimmy. He would've continued to get better as the year went along, and could open up the offense with deeper throws. Jimmy is Jimmy. He even showed it on Sunday. Lame duck passes, throwing behind guys, etc. He's limited. Plus are we just going to bank on him staying healthy all year, guaranteed? Jimmy now has 6 playoff starts where he sucked. All 4 of his playoff wins had nothing to do with his performance.
