Love Brent Jones. Nice to see a all time 49er great and in my opinion a HOF call out JG. More of this from our all time great players.
Yeah, I'm cool with players of their status speak up on current events. They shouldn't be dismissed, like many dit with Joe and Young when they spoke about Lance.
I would take Joe Montana's opinion more serious if he gave us his personal analsys of Trey Lance. Maybe I am missing something more recent but the last I heard from him was "players in the locker room" are talking.
"I don't think he's ready," Montana said of Lance. "And that's just what I hear. I heard even more things today from some of the players, so I just don't think they think he's ready."
That's right many alluded that joe was a liar and not having any connections anymore. I don't know if that's true or not and won't act like I know.
His opinion below was also attributed to sour grapes.
"I think you keep Jimmy until you find somebody else," Montana said. "I don't think Trey's ready to play yet, myself, and after talking to some of the players. It's one of those things that, if you can keep Jimmy healthy, he plays well enough to get you here."
I don't want a QB who "plays well enough to get you there". I want a QB that actually gives you a chance to win the SB. Jimmy will never be the reason this team,or any NFL team, wins a SB.
That's fine to disagree with Joes opinion. Many share that sentiment. I just don't agree when you call into question his character in doing so. That's all.
I agree. To think Trey or any rookie QB was going to take us to and win a SB was unrealistic. As a person JG is probably a great guy, but as a NFL QB for the 49ers I am so done with him and his F ups that can come on any given play, he's a veteran QB who never seems to learn from his mistakes.
Trey may end up being worse than JG but many people will not even give the guy 6 games before they declare him a bust and want Jimmy G.
Well we saw what Walk on Water Jimmy did on Monday night, and although that was his worst performance ever, you can go back to most every game he's been a 49er and see many aspects of his routine screw ups on a weekly basis.
However, the rest of the team has been good enough to cover his mistakes but many refuse to see he's average at best, and has many below average plays and decisions during all games, because the team won and winning makes us all happy.
Trey was probably going to have just as many,if not more, boneheaded plays this year and now next year being a rookie; however, he's a rookie and needs time to learn the game on the NFL level and JG is a "vet QB" who should not make these same mistakes, plus a new all time one that he can share with Orlovsky, every week.
I see the same rinse and repeat with JG this year as always and that's not winning a SB and plenty of wth moments.
