It's a poor musician, who blames the tune.

It's not entirely incorrect or wrong to assume that Jimmy against the Seahawks, especially when he first came into the game, was just Jimmy running on adrenaline, so to speak, letting it fly and just playing ball. So yeah, I think Kyle reined it in. Some say he even did that in the second half against Seattle.
Jimmy's Jimmy and we know that. But I keep saying it, he isn't as bad as his worst haters say. He can play that bad at times. But it gets silly. Facebook in particular has some terrible people and fans. "We should have been up 21-0!" Woulda, coulda, shoulda. I saw Stafford miss and throw a number of bad passes against us last year. Saw Rodgers miss throws against us last year. I get that they hit more consistently than Jimmy. But nothing is guaranteed in football or sports in general because you "saw it right there" in your living room.
Jeff Wilson fumbled at the end of the game and people are dead silent about him. I get that QB is "the most important position". At the same time I could argue, convincingly, that the offensive line, not any particular position, maybe center as the "captain" of the line, is the most important unit on the field. If they mess up run blocking or pass blocking you're messed up all the way around.
I do respect Jonny's breakdowns and objectivity. He's correct in that Jimmy doesn't seem to have the knack for not making a bad play worse. Bad play call on the safety, steps out of the end zone, safety- or pick 6 had he not done that. He will play better though. Hopefully indeed this week.
I don't even think Jimmy played all that well vs Seattle. Made a couple plays and I can't expect him to just step in and be better than he's been for yrs here. Got the W so that's good. There's nothing that can be said other than he was horrible mostly on SNF. Can't sugarcoat it. I expect better from him going forward.
yes the OL is important, think we have an issue at center. Thing is film still shows plays left on the field. Jimmy lacks quick processing post snap and anticipation, always has. That's a QB problem and something that separates avg from good.
pointing out much better QBs missing throws to lesson what Jimmy does is kinda silly. Those dude are WAY more consistent (not just a little bit) and can make those big time plays that our QB simply doesn't make, even if they miss a pass here or there.
End of the day Jimmy is a game manager and when he can't even do that we're in trouble...scheme can only do so much. The D can't bail us out the whole game. The run game will continue to be stagnant when our QB can't keep Ds honest. Hopefully he can at least get back to that game manger QB mode.

It's actually not all that silly.
A lot of people, including Kyle, wanted Stafford last year.
You know how easy it is to find complaints, comments, and articles on how inconsistent he has been over his career? Including last season?
I'll grant you though that he is likely to hit a big down the field throw a higher percentage of the time than Jimmy. But he's not THAT much of a better QB. Unless of course Jimmy decides to become a worse version of Trent Dilfer this year.

Both Stafford and Jimmy make dumb throws. Problem is Jimmy doesn't make as many big boy throws to make up for them. That's the problem and the difference.

If only he made those big boy throws this team would have maybe 2 rings now.

I just watched Jimmy's presser. He did say it, but it reads worse than what he said.
Still, Trey is only 22, and I can't imagine him deflecting even the tiniest bit of blame.
