Singling out a half and singling out a drive are 2 very, very different extremes. The initial statements referred to whole games. I can see comparing "1 half" to a game,....I mean that's legit and I'll listen (as I did). I can't ever see comparing 1 drive to game, though. Do you even realize that that's what you were doing, though? Again,...extreme.
And you "CAN" do whatever you like,...it's a messageboard,....I'd just add that you put it in context,...which is exactly what I did in the OP you're choosing to complain about.
I see how you left my 2nd paragraph out of your post. If you want to nitpick a single half (2.9%) of a 34 half season in order to make your evaluation, that is your prerogative.
I didn't nitpick a half. Posters (including you) referred to games that wasnt so good.
I chimed in with a 1st half that wasn't so good as well (IMO). Perfectly reasonable reply.
Chiming in about a drive instead tho just doesn't hold weight. I mean this is really a dead end.
You really are nitpicking. The half you chose is why I am making a big deal about it. The first half of the chargers game was more of a result of poor execution by the O line in the run game and Aiyuk fumbling the ball. Jimmy was 9/13 for 129 yards in the first half and 50% on converting 3rd downs and had a rushing TD.

Did you see the QBR leaderboards since 2016 I posted?
They change the formula when they want to, and have definitely changes it since 2016. Just look at the year to year leaders and you'll see many changes to the stats. They also don't give the actual formula so no one knows how they come up with it. But since it suits your argument, and since you value Sportscenter Top Ten plays and fantasy football over winning football games - by all means, continue to reference it.
Still waiting for that link to "all of the players who laughed at QB rating."
Lol you serious? How long have you been watching football? Plenty of former QBs always mocked QB rating.
Plenty? Should be easy to cite then. I'm 48 years old and have watched, played, and coached football my entire life. You?
Lmao, then you obviously sucked at all the above.
Yet it you coming up with exactly zero examples to back up your claim. Stick to trolling and s**t posting, that's your specialty.

This is a very good point. I'm not necessarily a footwork watcher like others here but he did use to seemingly have some funky footwork. Usually due to pressure in his face and him just standing there and throwing it. The improved PP is where I would start with his improvement.

If Jimmy plays like this the rest of the year there's gonna be a bidding war.
Jimmy has plenty of money. If things work out in the best possible way (Super Bowl win), he'll take less money to stay here. Book it.
Spotrac has estimated Garoppolo's market value at $34M/yr with the new cap. That would set him at the #12-14 slot among QBs. If that happened, it would pay him roughly the same value as compared to the cap as his prior contract. As you say, "Book it."
Yeah I don't know why people think Jimmy would take $10M a year to be the backup to Trey after playing the way he's been playing this season lol.
He wouldn't. He wouldn't take only 34m/year either. His haters want to see him hurt financially by resigning to a team friendly deal, but there is no reason he shouldn't get paid at least as much as someone like Kyler Murray, who he has outplayed.
There is absolutely NO WAY you're serious about that. His "haters" want to see guys like Nick Bosa and Brandon Aiyuk retire with a gold helmet on their heads. We have so many great players that are going to need to get paid. I hate to bring Cohn into this, but he's made a very good point: there comes a point when a team's salary contribution to their QB hurts the team to the point that it's extremely unlikely to win the Super Bowl (as in ZERO QBs making over this threshold have ever won a Super Bowl). Jimmy has already shown a willingness to be like Brady and give the team a discount in order to win. I think he'd do it again. But if he didn't, we have no business over-paying him when we have so many great players that need to be extended.
Has he? He was the highest paid QB in the league when we signed him to his original deal. The only reason he restructured his last year was because the shoulder injury limited his options. He still made sure that his new deal included a no-trade clause and a no-franchise tag clause. I'm not sure how inserting a no franchise tag clause is team-friendly. If he continues to play well and we win the Super Bowl, I just don't see any evidence that he'd be willing to (or should) re-sign for far less than what other teams might be willing to offer him. He should demand what he's worth and it'd be disrespectful to try to lowball him, especially if, in this scenario, he is a major reason why we've just won the Super Bowl.
When's the last time the 49ers used a franchise tag?
But I just think Jimmy has his millions and is more interested in winning. I really do think he'd take less money to stick around here a little longer, as long as he was given guarantees that he'll have every opportunity to be the starter. It'd have to be another loaded team that is just missing a QB to make him decide a pay cut isn't worth the wins, I imagine.
After this season, I cannot believe in a Jimmy that is vindictive. He had every reason to tell the 49ers to go to H E double L, and decided to stick around.

HA b******t! You only focus on anything negative from me and some other posters & totally disregard everything else. Years of posts about Jimmy in here from me prior to wanting someone else after 2020 that were all "positive"…guess that s**t doesn't matter because it defeats your purpose of arguing about nothing…
your shtick is old and stale man. Grow up. This forum should be more than pointing fingers and trying to twist comments to prove something.
90% of everything in here isn't about football and it's annoying. We never see any quality posters in here anymore because this place has turned into a soap opera.
Dude you're so emotional. The apology form is a joke, you don't have to actually fill it out and own up to your hate of Jimmy. Everything will be okay. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Let me know if you need a hug.

Ya that's definitely mine. Not your anti vax, maga, I have 150 IQ, I coach football, and I spend all day cosplaying as a gatekeep for threads.

JT (QB School on YouTube) pointed that out in his latest video. Very noticeable on the all-22. Perhaps Griese is having more of a positive impact than we realize. Despite the claims by some here that coaching doesn't matter.

Another super clean outing from Jimmy G. has the Niners sitting pretty atop the NFC West with the tiebreaker over Seattle. Garoppolo's 228 yards and four scoring strikes (tying his career high) headlined San Francisco's romp over the Cardinals. Arizona's defense came into Monday night bleeding yards after the catch, and Jimmy's deep stable of playmakers -- George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk -- spent the four quarters dancing through enemy territory. The Niners' offense sits poised on the horizon as a major problem for the rest of the NFC. -NFL.com
The thing the anti-QBR people aren't understanding, is that his ranking in QBR is for the TOTALITY of the season. But he's CURRENTLY better than that, because how he's playing now is not how he was playing in week 3. He probably, honestly, should be higher than 12, if we're ranking how they're playing right now. I suspect there is a lack of trust that he'll continue at this level.
Then how do you explain the other s**tshow QB's?
At the end of the day, it's all about how you operationally define your stats. And this one, like PFF's 65.6 grade of Jimmy last game is a s**tshow. And the week before is even worse!
Which are those? Geno is having a career year. Tua is flat out good, and he's going to win the MVP this season. Cooper Rush played well enough over a three game span that Jerry World was questioning whether or not Dak should be given the starting job back immediately. Brissett has played better than average on a bad team.
Also, PFF is not ESPN. I have a much better feel for ESPN's QBR than PFF, because ESPN uses some things I understand, like EPA, which actually do correlate somewhat with wins. PFF seems more arbitrary (but to be fair I've not paid much attention to them). The only mystery regarding Total QBR is how those EPA stats are weighted.

🚨IMO, this is why Jimmy Garoppolo will still be replaced. He either refuses or can't make the big throws down the field. The film is the film. Even in a great performance, these types of reps/turn downs speak volumes.🚨#FTTB

A bit harsh, but I never played QB in the NFL, so I'll defer to the experts.

You're taking a bunch of Ls already from many posters. Stop crying already. I'm sorry I'm not gonna take guys like you seriously and have a football discussion, especially when you throw the i played and coached on a football forum. You sound pathetic and insecure.
