Not saying I agree with him 100% of the time but the dude definitely knows the game and the position.

100% agree with this. JT's opinion holds more weight than anyone in these threads. Regardless of how successful he was in the NFL. No one in here has the level of experience nor the time spent studying NFL defenses.

Oh it would be totally different in person.

We'd all have a laugh, no doubt haha

In all honesty being in person we'd be able to distinguish tone better and likely less need for posters to get defensive.

Reading a post you see a name and can automatically assume you need to go into defense mode when it may not be the case.

oh dude, you speak the truth. i think that's definitely the case here. defense mechanisms initiate based on just a person's screen name! Lol

Beers, food and rooting for the Niners. Nothing more.

It wouldn't be I'm right you're wrong. It wouldn't be name calling or you said something negative about a player at some point so you suck lol.

No one would talk like they do in here….in person.

I blame Aeneas Williams.

I think Steve has just figured out that to work in media you have to have wild and over the top, flip-flopping hot and cold, extraordinarily dramatic hot takes for everything.

This for sure.

Also to be fair, certain posters have a prerogative with certain posters, which does lead to getting defensive over a comment regardless of the intention of the post at that moment.

dude its the exact same s**t in 49er facebook groups. its pure cancer. ive had to leave a couple because of the cesspool of comments, stupidity, and just blatant egregious name-calling and attacks. no doubt that wouldn't take place in person either. people would be much more cordial.

I don't dislike O'Sullivan. He seems to make a lot of good points and doesn't seem to have a lot of predetermined biases. In this particular instance though I'm not sure he is a guy who should be insisting that a QB needs to make that throw or that it is the throw he would have made. If he were capable of making that throw or that decision in the heat of the moment rather than sitting and watching it on replay and commenting on it he might not have been a career back-up. It's the same issue I have with Dan Orlovsky. He has no problem telling other QB's how they should be playing but wasn't actually ever to play at that level himself. Now if Kurt Warner or Troy Aikman or Steve Young have something to say about I would certainly take it a lot more seriously because those guys have all shown they can do it when it matters

Oh god I don't even use FB much anymore…it's just stuff my wife tags me in or me saying happy birthday to someone lol. FB stinks. Twitter is just as bad, I don't get caught up in the comments. I don't really have time anymore.

I haven't changed my opinion on JG at all. I can acknowledge that he's playing well so far this year other than a couple of games. He's managed to stay healthy which is a big deal for him. He's always been efficient and I don't see anything different from what I've seen the past 5 years.

That doesn't mean I don't think they should move on from him after the season. If they elect to keep him and give him a new contract, they need to trade Lance and draft another future replacement in 2023 or 2024. I'm not sure they would get that much for Lance since he's played so little so I think keeping Jimmy is a bad option. Let him walk, take the compensatory pick and move on. Lance will struggle next year but that's going to happen eventually no matter who they replace JG with unless they sign a big time free agent. That would be too expensive.

yep, we will have to exude more patience and let the guy take his lumps, and learn. gotta maintain perspective

And that's a very level headed opinion for sure. Jimmy being healthy is perhaps the biggest factor in his improvement this year, he hasn't been fully healthy since 2019 and his availability is the main reason they wanted to move on from him in the first place.

I love JT. I especially appreciate that he's always noting he doesn't know how the QB is coached up within a play but still gives his best take given his experiences. I respect that a ton.

The only caution with him is he is ALWAYS looking for the biggest play so he comes from that perspective, hence the nickname, J.T. O'Picksalot.

Jimmy may move on and never have another serious injury in his career. You just can't predict that. If he does and lands with a decent team, he could have a very nice career. That won't make him a HOF QB or even a top 10 guy but he can be at least as good as Cousins if he stays healthy.
