Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Los Angeles Rams

Shop 49ers game tickets
We have one big test to pass and that is coming back from two touchdowns behind and take the lead. So thankful of the win last week but as others have stated on the road, in the playoffs, these are mostly high scoring power offenses. You can have the weapons but if you muster up 13 points in a game it might not be enough. Hopefully these next few games really bring it home but we do not do well coming from behind. That is one difference a Trey type QB or other might succeed. We just don't know.

But I would like to see a come behind win with ten or more points as a tune up for what's to come in the playoffs (and preferably two TDs behind)

WBs entire game is going around policing posts and advocating for 'post fairness'. When he is not doing this he's creating entire threads devoting to singling out one guy as holding the offense back. Just admit it WB. We know you are over JG a lot of folks are. No shame in that I can say I was over Alex back in the day.

This regime and Kyle went to extreme measures to draft Trey. Huge! We haven't even taken the plastic wrapping off the package yet. Trey is QB1. Jimmy is a back-up. Repeat Trey is QB1. It's a dirty rotten shame he couldn't have started last year, and not have been injured this year. With this offense it might have been KC like. Or maybe just 49ers dream offense. I would think many here are smart enough to realize behind closed doors with Jimmy and Trey still stands true. Nothing has changed. Trey will step on the field next season. To think otherwise is nuts. And it will probably be year after next that we reap the rewards as Trey will need to grow most likely as with any new QB on the field.

I appreciate what Jimmy has done and glad we have him as a backup but I envision bigger and better things down the road at the position. That is supporting the current situation, not being a hater but realizing what the regime has done to draft a new QB and NOTHING has changed except timing of replacement.

Just because it's what *will* happen doesn't mean it's what *should* happen.

Trey Lance shouldn't be here in the first place. No trade should have been made to move up in the draft. Jimmy shouldn't be run out of town in favor of a new shiny flashy that hasn't shown anything whatsoever. We saw the same thing with Kaepernick, and within 2 years the franchise was tanked for the foreseeable future, until Jimmy got here.

You do understand that the NFL is a business, right? Money/cap space play a huge role in such decisions. And the fall after the Harbaugh era had more to do with Harbaugh and Fangio leaving plus the mass exodus of our defensive players than it did the replacing of Alex Smith with Colin Kaepernick.

16(Montana) - 8(Young) = 8
16(Montana) 8(Young) = 2
8+2=10(Garoppolo)

Raw data checks out

Exactly this. Just come out of the closet already.

Right, Running game and defense should have win loss records as well.

What part of my poll showed bias? I'd love to hear this.

Aaron Rodgers!

Pay and go win.

Should is irrelevant. You can't unring the bell.

Only two outcomes are likely. Either, JG balls out and prices himself out of the 49ers' range. Or JG's play regresses, and he plays himself out of the 49ers' QB1 role.

If JG balls out, he is going to get offers. Regardless of his past, regardless of injuries, etc. He will get a monstrous contract. The 49ers will not match said contract, especially given Trey has minimal trade value at the moment (I assume, since he will be three years into his NFL career in 2023, with about 250 minutes played).

If JG's play drops off, why would the 49ers bring him back? And if they did, given the prior assumption of average / poor play, that would be the death knell for Trey.

There is no JG next year, with the caveat being Trey isn't a bust in the eyes of the 49ers. If you see JG return, it's because they don't see Trey as the future. I don't see that happening.

As for JG, I am tickled pink he is here this year, because 2022 would be done without him (sorry Brock). I think this is a big week for JG, because the offense is going to need to show up. I don't think the 49ers' D is holding the Dolphins to < 17 points, and even that I think is a bit low. As I said in another post, I expect 24-27 points, minimum, for the 49ers to win. And I expect JG and the 49ers to deliver.

He was the only player included in the poll. The poll about who is holding us back. That would be one part.

Right, Running game and defense should have win loss records as well.

The polarized sides of the JG camps are both wrong.

Is he as talented as Joe or Steve. No. Not even close.

Is he a winner and pretty damn good at his best? Absolutely.

You are what your record says you are.

The idea that he's 40-19 just because of his run game and defense is not correct. And if we're going to go that route, let's look at guys like Roger Craig, Ricky Watters, Garrison Hearst. And defense for both QBs was fantastic. that 94 defense was LOADED.

There was two options in the poll and the results were very close to 50/50. I'll ask again, what part of the poll was biased?
