You don't saddle up and ride mediocrity. It's the worst place in the world to be. Now instead of having a young guy they could've been developing they wasted a year. Opportunity cost.

So now it's take a 69 mil cap hit or pay a mediocre dude coming off an acl 47 mil. Just terrible.

The young guy would have gotten injured and his rear end handed to him. They can redo the deal. Deals get restructured left and right. If he doesn't want to restructure, fine. NYG isn't talented enough for this to burn em. They don't have a million guys they need to resign. They aren't loaded like us. You probably want to get an OL put together, to figure out if he's the guy or not, and next year they'll have a crack at that. You say 'coming off an acl' as if they had a crystal ball.. and should have known that at time of contract

Restructure it and lock yourself into more years of mediocrity. That'd be genius of them.

Point is it doesn't matter, it doesn't hold them back, their OL does
They aren't losing out on one player. Not one. They would be mediocre with just about any QB. Next year you can see more who Jones is, I don't think a ton of him, but he's more interesting than Tyrod at this stage, or Cutlets.

Paying 69 mil this year to cut a mediocre QB coming off an ACL absolutely holds them back. They can't spend like they need to to fix the OL. They will likely be forced to start Jones thereby taking away snaps from a young guy who could use them if they keep him around.

He wouldn't be more interesting than Maye. Hell he wouldn't even be more interesting that McCarthy.

Seen Jones for 5 years. Pretty clear who he is.

They ain't paying that to cut him, let's get real
don't have to start him either, look at JG
you are manufacturing a problem, where there isn't much of one, NYG has an OL problem, that's the issue

When did Jimmy have a 47 mil cap hit as a backup?

Jimmy has always been an average player at best.

At his worst... We already know what he is in that realm as well.

Just the reality of things.

Mac Jones can do the same as brock Purdy and Jimmy G can do the same as Mac Jones.
Bump

Id rather just stay from any QB who is functionally awful without Kyle Shanahan myself.

I was saying look at JG, in that, LV signed him, and he's a backup. So that stuff happens. So if Jones is a backup next year in NYG, so be it, it's a temporary issue. The way NYG is, they needed 3 QBs this year, so they will likely need Jones at some point next year.

Also if you look at JG, the final year of his deal with us, remember we just redid the deal. Redoing the deals, happens all the time in the NFL. And it saves teams cap. It's called cap management.
