Acquiring Landry was a good move.
They basically dealt a 2017 2nd and a 4th for GB's corner and a 5th. While they are clearly moving on from Kiser, it's pretty bad to be conceding a waste of a 2nd round pick 11 months after you made it.
I disagree. Allen and Darnold ( the 2 most likely to go to Cleveland) arent close to being ready to start in the NFL and will greatly benefit from sitting and learning for an entire season. They have a ton of picks and a 3rd for Taylor is about right. If he plays well they should be able to recoup at least a 3rd back the following year when they move to their young QB.
If you're picking a QB in the top 5 of the draft and he isn't close to being ready to start you've made the wrong pick. Name the last QB taken top 5 in the draft that sat the entire first year.
Meanwhile even if you did incubate your franchise QB, you could have kept the 65th overall and, with your $110 million in cap space, "overpaid" for a one year starter.
It's a waste of a high pick on, in your ideal scenario, 16 games for Tyrod Taylor.

I just had the weirdest thought. What if Kizer goes and kills it in greenbay and the browns draftee is a bust? Man...

Nothing stops them from flipping Taylor in a future trade, especially if he puts up good numbers in an offense well suited for his skillset.

Except that he's a FA after this season and there's no way they franchise him at 27mil. lol So absolutely no one is going to trade for him next year. They gave up way to much considering the bills were just going to cut him.

Browns will likely take Barkley at #1 and trade the #4 to a team desperate for a QB, and in return for swapping 1's this year, a #1 next year and other pick(s). Book it, this is what the Browns will do, IMO. They won't be picking at 4.

Browns are making some good moves. Darnold is meh. Rosen is injury prone.
I would take Saquon and Baker Mayfield. Then have Tyrod as a stop gap, which is what he was supposed to be. They missed out on Alex Smith, and got the next best thing.

Call me impressed with what they have done so far.
I'm a fan of Tyrod Taylor. He is a game manager like Alex Smith.
Damarious Randall for DeShon Kiser is a huge win. Randall is a stud.
3rd round pick for a legit receiver in Jarvis Landry.
Solid moves so far and they could be in for a quick rebuild.
Throw in Saquon Barkley at #1 behind that Oline with Jarvis Landry, Josh Gordon and Corey Coleman and grab a QB like Lamar Jackson at #4 to sit and learn a few years.
Use the 33rd, 35th, 65th And 97th picks on D to go with Myles Garrett, Jamie Collins, Danny Shelton, Emmanuel Ogbah, Demarious Randall, Jason McCourty and Jabril Peppers and and and Cleveland should be able to compete next year.
I will be rooting for them in the AFC

4th and a 7th for Landry. And the 65th pick is for Tyrod. But yeah Browns have made some great moves.

All that talent and they have miserable coaching. It's unfortunate.
It's all about the QB for them and Taylor was an excellent trade. He's accustomed to playing with lesser talent and performing pretty well.
I still think drafting a QB first has to be the move. Hue won't utilize Barkley correctly anyway. It'll be a blown opportunity to get the top QB in this class. Darn old needs to be the pick.
Cleveland, don't let Allen's strong arm or Barkley allow you to pass on another (potential) franchise QB.

I disagree. You take the best player at 1 who has a perfect grade in Saquon Barkley. He is a generational talent and will carry Cleveland like LaDanian Tomlinson carried SD. There are 5 first round QBs so you take the one with the most upside at 4. Lamar Jackson. Coach him up and let him sit for a year or 2 and he will be ready to kill the AFC.
Except for a few years in the '80s the Browns have been straight up trash during my lifetime. As long as their success doesn't come at the expense of the 49ers I wish them all the best. Would rather see them win than the Steelers or Ravens. That being said, they are moving in the right direction, which is easy to do for an 0-16 team. As one of the OG franchises amazingly they are one of four organizations that have yet to appear in a Super Bowl. We'll see what the new regime over there can do, they're off to a good start already.

That's debatable. He's been playing with Shady McCoy and a bunch of 1st-2nd round WRs (Benjamin, Matthews, Watkins, Woods, Zay Jones) plus Goodwin and TE Charles Clay.

Only thing Kizer is going to kill is his career.

Almost all those WRs were considered a disappointment. None of them were comparable to Landry or Gordon. He's now got the most talented WR corps he's ever played with.
McCoy was fantastic and helped Tyrod tremendously, no doubt. I think he'll do well if they can find a decent RB. It doesn't have to be Barkley. Defenses will now have to honor the pass, so the running game should pick up behind their steady Oline.
