The Browns definitely look better on paper than they have at any time since the Butch Davis era. For those that are not fans of Tyrod Taylor, keep in mind, he led his team to a 9-6 record last season. Taylor was 7-9 and 8-8 the two seasons before that. He will win some games for Cleveland and should be good enough to keep whatever QB they have on the bench for a season. They are adding a lot of young talent, still have a boatload of picks and if they don't see a clear cut, number 1 QB in this draft, yes, they could flip that 4th for more picks.

I like the decisiveness of their new regime in getting rid of players they feel don't have it. Similar to us dropping Torrey Smith and Vance McDonald next year. I suppose Dorsey has spent the last month of so looking at film of the team from last season and maybe even prior. Trading for Taylor also is a sign to me that they have signed off on Hue for now. I'm looking forward to seeing what Cleveland looks like this season.

Best bridge QB they could get? Jackson has a preference to mobile QBs? Gives the rookie they draft the freedom to just sit for a year and learn the game?

Haley is running the o now but if they go 1-6 the rook is going to play anyways.

With Hue as the coach, a rent qb, this team could quit in a second.

It will be interesting to see how Haley does there. He has a reputation for being a my way of the highway guy. Burned out in last three spots. He wouldn't be the guy I would want tutoring a rookie QB from everything I have heard about him.
They traded Shelton to the Patriots, too. At least the new guys aren't sitting on their hands.
I can see them going 500. Very positive moves so far. I'm interested to see what they do with the 4th pick. I wouldn't be surprised if they just get bpa- like chubb- then trade up and get Lamar Jackson later in the first. Or just trade down and get him anyways with a first next year to boot or something.

Belichick signs his next Vince Wilfolk.

Yeah, but Tyrod Taylor was literally benched this season. A 5-4 team in the thick of a playoff raced benched this guy for a rookie, Nathan Peterman. Peterman had one of the worst starts in NFL history, when he threw 5 interceptions in the first half. If he was even mediocre, Taylor may very well have remained on the bench. That's pretty damning when the head coach pulls the plug on you in these circumstances.

McDermott didn't bring in Taylor and had no loyalties to him...unlike Peterman. He also wanted something different than what Taylor brings IMO. Taylor won't put up huge numbers inside the pocket, is not the greatest at the short and mid range passing game but he also doesn't turn the ball over and will keep drives moving with his legs. Also has a great deep ball.

... as I was saying bout how DUMB this franchise is...

a promising young DT who they drafted high was sent to New England for a 3rd rounder in 2019...

I just don't get it.. in fact, it makes me wonder... for a 3rd rounder in 2019, why didn't we try to trade for Shelton..

We could have even included Arik on that deal..
joe thomas is gonna retire. damn wasted his hof career on a crappy franchise

but the timing is interesting, i wonder if he was hoping cousins would come over.

Not a scheme fit, hasn't been a super great player for them and they had zero intention of re-signing him. You're overrating a guy based on draft position which goes out the window once they are in the NFL.

Unless your name is Sammy Watkins then you can make a career out of draft hype.

How about QB @1 and Mike McGlinchey after a trade down?
