Watching Sheldon knife that gap is kind of sobering. People can try to downplay the importance of it all they want, but most traits are scheme specific. Most players are not scheme neutral. Defo will never be a gap-shooting 3 tech. That's not his forte. He's too damn big to be shooting and getting skinny through gaps. Same goes for Armstead. I wonder how many TFL Defo has compared to other 3t around the league.
True one-gap penetrating 3techs thrive on knifing and shooting gaps to make big plays. This is one of the pitfalls of drafting for a specific scheme and playing a different one later down the road.
I hope Kyle and Lynch pick one and commit to it for the foreseeable future.
