Or more than Lynch, Shanny and the FO regarding talent.
I think this guy could be a starter, does anyone else agree?

I think he is the best Sam on our roster. Marsh > Harold

Possibly the best Leo on our roster as well.

As of right now, yes he could be. Hopefully he ends up being a back-up and I think he would make a real good, valuable and versatile back-up/ST's player.

I heard somewhere that the coaching staff is going to try Eli Harold at the LEO spot in the off-season...

Im not saying starter but I think Marsh plays just as many snaps as anyone else at Sam or Leo. I see us using a heavy rotation again like last year. Saleh really believes in keeping fresh legs out on the field of play.

Now that we have to address the ILB position (thanks Reuben) I dont see us being able to upgrade the Mike and the Sam and the Leo positions and still be able to get a corner and fix the oline.

Marsh might not "start" but he is going to play, and play a lot.

I hope you are both right. I just didn't see that much of him last yr to get a good read. Day, yes, saw plenty of him. Marsh, I just didn't see enough to make a guess.

Agreed...snap counts are what fans should focus on esp. at edge rushers.

For instance, DeMarcus Lawrence had the most of this FA group barely going over 700. Most are in the 400-500 range.

Imagine getting $15M to play 500 snaps a year. Epic.

He will get better just by learning to play with his teammates. Once some familiarity is established they will be able to communicate better and get a feel for eachothers game.

What I saw in Marsh is a non-stop motor with above avg burst and speed to get around the edge. He got pretty consistent pressure in his 6 games with us. Especially towards the end of the games. He seems to wear out his opponents and finish strong.

He only got 2 sacks in 6 games but sacks only tell half of the story. Being disruptive is just as important and he was fairly disruptive. More disruptive than I thought he would be when we signed him on late in the season.

I wouldn't be shocked if he was able to get 10 sacks this year. Id put the over/under at 8 though.

Marsh played 308 snaps last year and was only here for 6 games... If this is any indication then he is going to play a ton.

The Demarcus Lawrence thing borders on fantastical..ok, crazy-nutty. More power to him tho.

For usn's, I can see right this moment, a two team front 4 which currently includes:

Solomon, DeFo, The Douz, Marsh, Day, DJ Jones, Mitchell, and Blair. I am also hopeful for the reincarnation of Arik Armstead. If that were to happen and he reappears post op as a viable first rd starter, wow, would that ever make my day. On that, however, we just have to wait and see. Either there is a huge turn around or no dice.

Now the likelihood we go into the yr with the above 8 or 9, is slim. You know shanalyn is going to get some prime beef up front. Where ? Could be in FA for low $$, but better than several of the above. Better bet is rd 5-6 or later, after we have taken care of OG, (hopefully already got C in FA), CB, LB (2), and somewhere come up with an ER. I think Ansah is going to rival malik Johnson for this yrs shock salary. And we won't be doing that. But there are lots of DEs out there and John did mention he was going to spend more time in college guys this yr. On D, minus the Reuben thing, he has a good record. Solomon, Spoon, Adrian, were not all that shabby. Reuben too, but....

I just feel comfortable we will improve substantially the above 8 or 9 guys by at least 2-3. And that is all for the good. The late season add ons of marsh and Day still are puzzlers. It just meant John continued to scour the entire league for somebody's left overs, and came up with two winners...whether starters or not, they will compete for sure. And if we are running a two line front 4, we need two sets of 4 starters. Again, would be oh so nice if Arik comes back a different guy. I think he has it but the shoulder just limited him. Cannot wait for TC, PS to see. Altho Ansah is high on my wish list , I just think with JG we aren't going to offer Ansah a malik Johnson deal...but somebody will. That's for sure.

That's actually pretty remarkable. I hadn't realized he had that many and over 6 games? Projected out, that would put him at over 800 snaps. He must have had some early down snaps too and not relegated to just 3rd downs. That's starter snaps for a modest contract. That puts it into perspective.

Good stuff! Thank you...

No he had 190 snaps with the 49ers defense and 118 on ST... 308 total

Week 12-17

27 snaps 42% vs Sea (first game)
11 snaps 31% vs Chi
33 snaps 52% vs Hou
34 snaps 55% vs Tenn
49 snaps 62% vs Jax
36 snaps 57% vs Rams

Some conflicting numbers out there about his total numbers but it looks like 457 snaps on the year and 190 of those with the 49ers defense.

Still pacing out to around 500-550 defensive snaps a year.

I have feeling this guy will be a key player for us. He will not be a starter but def a rotational guy who could play 15-20 snaps a game as well as a key ST's guy.

I can see him getting 5-7 sacks as a role guy.
