This is more likely

Iirc the reason the Browns had to give up so much in the ill-fated trade is because McCarron had an extra year of control. I.e. Garopollo is a FA this offseason, McCarron isn't a FA til 2019

Guess you missed this:

Browns coming under fire for GM 'search':

I'm calling it now, Browns, Giants, and 49ers all finish 2-14!

Are there any hot HC candidates this year? There doesn't seem to be many names this year. No college coach's name and the NFL coordinators of the hot teams don't have enough experience. Terrible year to need a HC.

Pretty much. Jim Bob Cooter would have been an interesting name, but that O is sputtering in DET this season.

Pat Schumur has done a lot with little in MN. The Gruden brothers are always in the mix. Jay may be on the way out if they depart with Cousins. The Pats assistants will have interviews for most teams. Paul Guenther is likely to succeed Lewis in CIN.

Give it another 1-2 years, and you'll start seeing the new names appear. Matt LaFleur, Kris Richard, Todd Wash, and Mike Vrabel.

A lot of connected people seem to think this is the year Josh McDaniels takes another crack at it. Speaks to what he thought of the 49ers opening, passing on them what, 3 times? ('11, '15, '16).

I think he was close to taking the SF job. But in the end he wanted a more stable situation, less of a rebuild & at the time the 49ers weren't that. I bet right now he is wishing he had taken the job.

yeah we was the favorite for the job essentially. Idk if he would do better worse or the same as kyle but im more than happy with what we have. There is a slight chance we couldve gotten better trade for Garoppolo cause of the NE connection. Maybe having them accept the 2nd round pick for the saints.

I doubt that with Dorsey running the show.

I can see the Browns giving McCarron a Glennon type of deal and drafting Rosen. Placates Hue, and allows Rosen a chance to not be rushed in his development. Hue will get at least one more ŷear as HC.

"You know what? You gotta get a guy like that players. And you know what, I'll come straight out with it, the guys who
were here before and that system, they didn't get real players," Dorsey said in an interview with ESPN Cleveland Radio.

Sounds kinda classless and douchey.
