Yes...that is exactly what he will do. He has enough in the bank to get by.
Kirk Cousins playing chicken with the WFT has changed player team relations.

Cousins never held out,he just took one year deal after one year deal until it was too expensive to keep tagging him.
Under the new CBA, holding out is far more cost prohibitive too. So yeah its likely that Houston trades him but if they were hellbent on keeping him, regardless of team chemistry, it would very quickly start costing him a fortune to do so.

He's due something like 10.5M in cash this year (based on my memory of his cap hit) and they could probably ask for a prorated portion of signing bonus back I suppose. Probably another 5M. His alternative is play another season for that and hope he doesn't get injured.
Agree a trade is in the best interest of both parties at this point.

It wasn't the holdout...it was the team saying F you and putting his health and finances at risk
Players around the league saw how they are viewed
Hold outs and forced trades by stars similar to the NBA are a realistic threat in the NFL
Watson is the first test case

The new CBA makes holdouts insanely expensive for the player. If the Texans want to be stubborn, they could hold on to Watson and make him bleed money. Fines for a player not showing up are no longer optional and the language regarding repayment of bonuses is far more restrictive.
https://steelersdepot.com/2020/02/new-cba-will-make-it-much-more-costly-for-players-looking-to-hold-out-during-training-camp/
For starters, as stipulated in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, teams are allowed to fine a player up to $40,000 per day for every day that a player skips training camp. Holdouts typically take place during contract disputes, and it's often that a team will wipe out the fines incurred once the player reports, either after resolving the contract issue or for whatever reason may persist.
Under the new CBA, the fines will become mandatory for any player beyond their rookie contract, and not optional. In addition to that, the amount of the fine is said to be "substantially increased". What is a substantial increase from $40,000, which is already quite a bit?
Yet another disincentive to skip training camp for players would be the league's ability to strip players of an accrued season if they fail to show up for training camp on time or if they leave for more than five days. This is a huge difference from the rule currently on the table, which only requires that a player under contract show up within 30 days of the team's first game.

Sadly, but not surprisingly yes.Originally posted by CatchMaster80:Originally posted by LifelongNiner:Yup. Take that to the people who thought Watson simply wanted a black coach.
Were some people actually saying that? I guess some people think all black people like all other black people. Just like us white people like all other white people. Yah, right.

Rather than holding out, you're better off just showing up and dogging it.

The #Seahawks are hiring #Rams assistant OL coach Andy Dickerson as their run-game coordinator, per @MikeSilver. And yet another loss for the #Rams coaching staff.

Hearing from NFL sources directly involved that former #Seahawks DC and #Cowboys defensive play-caller Kris Richard could be part of David Culley's coaching staff with the #Texans.

How do you build continuity when your coaching staff is constantly getting poached?
Historically that probably would have been to hire an all minority coaching staff, at least up until the NFL started incentivizing minority coaching hires.
It sounds like the Head Coach needs to be offensive minded and call the shots offensively, like Shanahan, and then cycle through defensive coordinators as the good ones get poached by other organizations.
