Seems like history repeating. Even us taking Smith instead of Rodgers. At least Smith did something eventually.
Talking a QB at 1 without a decent line and starting them on game 1 is a recipe for disaster.

Smith was a good prospect coming out. One QB went into a good coaching situation, talent situation, good franchise, and got to sit. The other had the worst coaching situation, some talent, but again the coaches couldn't use yhe players, and a meh franchise. 7 offensive coordinators in 7 years. And Urban Meyer said Smith wouldn't really be good until he fully understood the system. He never got to get to that point. I wonder what he would've looked like if he had Harbaugh or Andy Reid from day 1.

Reid would've developed him into a top talent. Harbaugh and Roman not so much.

It is a f**king hilarious twist of fate that the guy who passed on Rodgers (Mike McCarthy) ended up as his HC the following year and eventually reaped the benefits of making the wrong choice

Did Peters really find his FQB on his first try as the #1 GM

Nice draft overall by Peters so far. I keep telling folks.. they're going to surprise some people I think in Washington.

I was consistently picking up Sainstril, Sinnot, and McCaffrey for the 49ers during my zillion PFF mock drafts.

I wasn't crazy high on McCaffrey but I loved the other two. All three are promising guys for Washington. They should be a force going forward.

The biggest difference as I see it is we would have had the same QB for 19 years unless of course he wanted to be traded.

Talk about a long term solution!

Alex Smith has already been retired for 5 years!

who knows if Rodgers would be here or playing still..

Great QBs need that chip on their shoulder.. i don't think Rodgers gets that by being here

Remains to be seen. A guy can.look great. Then defensive coordinators get film on you. The mediocre to good QBs never adapt. We'll see if Daniels can keep this up in year 3. We'll see if Quinn gets it right on his second try.

I agree. Good arm, great attitude, could run and run far better than he actually showed in his career. By the time Reid got him, Smith played it far too safe.
