I don't want a guy that thinks it's a good idea to post that pic of a cop getting his throat slit on social media. That's not being "clean".

Pretty funny though that Crowell and Hyde have almost identical career numbers. Same yards per carry, touchdowns, similar rushing yards(Crowell has slightly more), similar receiving stats and TDs. But Crowell isn't expected to make nearly as much as Hyde.
I think you're being to hard on a twitter post he quickly took down in the heat of the police killings in the summer of 2016. He gave a sound apology and followed up by donating his first game check to the Dallas PD. Again it looks like he's kept clean since becoming a pro.

"On Monday, Crowell issued the following apology through the club and on his Twitter account:

"Last week was an emotional and difficult week as we saw extreme acts of violence against black men across our country as well as against police officers in Dallas,'' he wrote. "I posted an image to Instagram in the midst of that emotion that I shouldn't have and immediately removed it. It was an extremely poor decision and I apologize for that mistake and for offending people.

"My values and beliefs do not match that image. I am outraged and upset by the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile along with so many others. I am also outraged and saddened by the attacks in Dallas and the deaths of the five honorable police officers (Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael J. Smith, Brent Thompson and Patrick Zamarripa) who were providing protection while trying to keep peace.

We have to be better as a society, it's not about color, it's about what's right and wrong. I was very wrong in posting that image. Every single life matters, every death as a result of violence should be treated with equal outrage and penalty.''

So when is the retirement announcement coming?
If I'm the Steelers GM I just let him play one more year then let him walk and collect the compensatory pick. He'll be 27 years old, I just don't see how you can sign a HB to a long term big money deal these days in the NFL.
Franchise tags were originally for smaller market teams, so they can retain their players and keep em from going to the big spenders. But lately the tags seem like they're only used to screw players over from getting a long term deal.

Steelers have a huge market just like most nfl teams but they keep putting Bell on risky one year deals. That's not fair at all to the players. He should be allowed to go sign with a team that'll take care of him. He has such a short window to make the most amount of money and he keeps getting screwed. The franchise tag is now only used as leverage by teams, instead of its original purpose.

NBA and MLB don't have franchise tags because the players actually have power there. There's no need for them anymore. Every team had a minimum amount they can spend, every team has a ton of money, there's a salary cap. There aren't any small market teams that need help. If you're not a desirable place for your players then fix your culture instead of forcing guys to stay via franchise tag.

Nfl players get absolutely roasted by the CBA. It's seems criminal to me. Do the players realize that there PA representation is by far the worst of all major pro sports leagues on the planet? Players need to spend big on hiring some smarter people to oversee CBA negotiations next time they are up. They also need to be prepared to miss an entire season if they want to get this thing right. NFL teams should only be able to franchise a player once imo.
HOW SMART IS PITTSBURGH FO? I can't see new england creating this kind of headache for itself.
Well Bell turned down a 5yr 70M contract and has now said his goal is to hit the 2019 free agent market healthy and not have another 400 touch season.
First teams that come to mind are Seahawks, Packers and Ravens
hmm...maybe he can roid up if takes a year off. IDK if a RB is worth millions anymore.

Zeke maybe but he's still under his draft contract .

Gotta get rid of the fluff...it was $30 million guaranteed and he already was given a $14.5 million dollar tag, so basically they gave him $15.5 million in guaranteed cash lol. Slap in the face.

They needed to put $30 million of new guaranteed cash (on top of the money he's already getting from the tag they gave him) $44.5 million in guaranteed cash would have been a proper proposal.

I mean Leonard Fournette got $27 million in guaranteed cash (based on where he was drafted) the dude didn't even take a single NFL snap at that time. Zeke got $25 million guaranteed on his rookie deal.

Bell should be getting more.

According to some talking heads the total deal was going to be close to the $45m guaranteed mark over the first 3 years. $30m guaranteed in the first two years and signing bonus close to the tag money he would have been spread out over 3 years.

He has said that he wants to set the market for other RBs in the league. That deal would have got any other RB being tagged next season a s**tload more money.

Not too smart imo. Well see how it plays out for him.

Yeah not really...it's all about that fully guaranteed cash end of the day

This will be his last yr in Pitt...dude will make $30 million fully guaranteed next yr on top of the $14.5 million he gets because they tagged him.

Based on that report that contract looks like Pitt is covering their ass on a year to year bases.
Rolling guarantee for $33m. Plus the $10m signing bonus = $43m over 3 years.
$33m base / 3 years = $11m base salary
$10m bonus / 3 years = $3.3m singing bonus
Total = $14.3m per year
So as long as he was on the roster for the next 3 years he's guaranteed the full $43m.

That's just one report. The other reported deal was said to be for 5 years and $70m. For all we know there could have been some kind of hefty injury guarantee? Much like the contract Brandon Cooks just signed.

I like the way this is playing out because I'm looking forward to seeing what he gets next year.
