Would love to see it.
can he do anything at all right now in regards to football. throwing the ball. lifting weights? we know he is a good student of the game so its no issue for him to learn and execute the plays but can he do anything physically at all?

If the bone is fully healed, he can begin rebuilding the muscle tissue that was removed due to the infection. It will be slow and tedious, however, that would be necessary anyway just to get him to where he can walk with confidence. Running is likely months away.

all of that to come back to the NFL where you probably wont be playing your best, and the time and work it would take just to re-acclimate yourself to the routine/gameday, everything.... all back on that leg. is it really worth it at this point? he should just do what's best for himself and hang it up, pocket that money.

He pockets less of that money if he retires and doesn't rehab on the Redskins' dime. He should use the resources being on the team offers him until the Redskins make a move, and no sooner.

he can rehab fully on their dime then retire. he doesn't need to play anymore.

He doesn't have to make a decision about playing until he's healthy, so why bother to do that now?

because it's better to consider life after football now than at the last second. no doubt he's thought about it.

Good looking out for Smith's mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It's cool to have caring fans.

He has to check down to his family at some point.
Judging by Smith's history, he is going to consider both his own position and the team's before he makes a final decision. Considering that he has always preferred to stay out of the media spotlight rather than seek it, it is likely we won't know much until he has made his decision...and that is likely down the road a ways. It will be months before his rehab has reached the point that a decision has to be made.

He is a very well settled financially, hence it is unlikely he will string the Redskins along just to grab a few more million dollars.

Team will cut him 1st chance they get either way. It's Haskins team now. See Kap, see Mahomes. It really doesn't matter what Alex wants on that front.

If they cut him, the Redskins are still obligated to pay him the guarantee.

If they cut him this year, they are still on the hook for $15,000,000 in guaranteed salary plus a $52,600.000 dead money hit.

It they cut him in 2020, they owe him $16,000,000 in guaranteed salary, plus a $32,200,000 dead money hit.

After that, the guarantee is all paid, but there is a $10,800,000 dead money hit in 2021, along with a smaller hit in 2022.

Interesting.

So when do you think they will cut him, tjd808185? What's the "first chance they will get" in your opinion?
Good/detailed article on the Redskins options (which all appear to be poor options):

That's why I said 1st chance they get. Obviously cap factors in. But he's not going to be the starting with Haskins there so

he'll never be a starting Quarterback in the NFL ever again. period.

Uh. If he is healthy, he will be somewhere. Pro Bowl QBs don't grow on trees. Yeah, OK, maybe he won't play like a Pro Bowler when he returns, but there are plenty of teams I'm sure that would love to have him at that point if he's healthy.
