Some of you agree. Not all.

Unbiased observers. You, and many others in this thread, are emotionally biased.

Let's not go there, OK?

Yes sir, per the norm, great modding this thread . Thank you 🙏🏾 👍🏾
Andrew Luck retires with no SB win (played only 6 NFL seasons), #1 overall pick just like Alex Smith (played 13 NFL seasons), did not last as long but definitely went to a better team and was only on 1 team in one of the weakest NFL division.

What is your purpose in posting this here?

Are you just trying to "stir the pot?"

Don't.

Comparing Luck's NFL career to Alex Smith's, both #1 overall picks. Haven't posted in a long time, thanks for the welcome back.

Anyway, Luck didn't have the luck or the longevity afterall.

It might also be argued that Alex Smith doesn't, either.

eh, maybe my antenna was a bit sensitive. Apology here.

Glad you're back.
Both Luck and Alex Smith were disappointments of #1 overall picks. Luck because of the lack of longevity. Smith because....well....you guys know.

The resurrection that Smith had from being that disappointment is legendary. From Ryan Leaf to MVP candidate. From Ryan Leaf to taking a bottom tier roster to an NFC East division title. From getting benched for Kap and then proving he was way better to every unbiased expert. From being valued lower than Kirk Cousins and then proving he was way better to every unbiased expert. What a warrior. What a savage. Perseverance. Heart. Loyalty. Balls. True man.

Wow, hell of a story. Alex Smith, a true Niner that all real fans miss.

Luck's career was sadly defined by a franchise that never gave him the roster and structure he needed. His weird owner and GM screwed NFL fans over. Really unfortunate. He's a first ballot HOFer type of talent

Luck and Smith shared the same burden of being drafted by an organization, and placed with a HC, that had no idea how to protect a QB.

Luck did have the good fortune (I can't use the word "luck") to have OC Bruce Arians take over for Chuch Pagano for 12 games during his rookie year, and that was a great benefit to Luck. Arians used the tools the Colts had very well and Luck was able to get off to a great start. After that it was the very forgettable Pep Hamilton and a bunch of no-names filling the OL spots...and that effectively started the countdown that just ended.

The main difference between the two was that Luck managed five excellent years before debilitating injuries began to occur while Smith lost his fastball to the shoulder injury before he ever got a chance to work with anyone that knew what an NFL offense should look like.

I find it odd/funny that you highlight the fact that Luck got to work with Arians for 12 whole games (and said he was fortunate to do so), and then say that Smith never got to work with good offensive coaches....when he got to work with either Mike McCarthy or Norv Turner for 2 full seasons.

Very biased post dj.

Would be interesting to see Alex in todays NFL. What i mean is if he wouldve been drafted within the last 5 years. His game wouldve definitely been suited better for this passing era. Nolan, Sing, and even Jim with their 80s style offense wasnt a good fit.

If he never got that shoulder injury, drafted in todays game, with his athleticism, he wouldve been really good.
