Solomon Thomas over Mahomes was a huge mistake
Hindsight.
At the time, just about every NFL pundit had Thomas as a top 5 pick. The same guys thought KC gave up too much to move up to draft Mahomes.
Well, they were all wrong. We pulled the trigger on him at #3 overall. Says a lot about our evaluation abilities
No it doesn't. It does say a lot about your ability to use hindsight though. The draft, lottery, is a. Rearrange.
Weren't people saying the same thing about Watson last year? Lets see how he does in a year from now, once teams get tape and figure him out.
it's not figuring him out, it's figuring out how to stop 5 other freaks on their offense. he's not making passes into tight windows or throwing to only a certain part of the field. but he is making all the big throws and isn't scared to go down field and put up points. they aren't trying to win 28-20 anymore.
on top of that, that OL is at least above average. they give him just enough time for their weapons to run their routes. blitzing him is a huge mistake because you can't play man with those WRs or Eifert. you gotta play zone, and zone blitzing them won't work either because of their speed. they will get to soft spot of that zone before the pass rush can get there.
and what's gonna happen if he does get better, if he does learn to read defenses and go through his second/third options? he's gonna be unstoppable with that cast for years to come.
how do you stop the Chiefs offense? have a couple Jalen Ramsey's playing CB, with a Kam type of SS who can cover Eifert and put some fear in him, and dominant DL who can stop Hunt if the pass isn't working, and one or two HOF edge rushers who can get to him fast and finish, so Hill/Watkins/Conely aren't open by 30 yards 2 sec into the play.
good luck.
