Hindsight.

At the time, just about every NFL pundit had Thomas as a top 5 pick. The same guys thought KC gave up too much to move up to draft Mahomes.

Well, they were all wrong. We pulled the trigger on him at #3 overall. Says a lot about our evaluation abilities

No it doesn't. It does say a lot about your ability to use hindsight though. The draft, lottery, is a. Rearrange.

Weren't people saying the same thing about Watson last year? Lets see how he does in a year from now, once teams get tape and figure him out.

You answered your own criticism in the same post
The Chiefs have become must see TV. Their offense is simply amazing.

Holy hell what a fun team to watch. Big Red is having fun now...

Put me down as possibly the first guy to hype of Mahomes and say he would be elite. After his first preseason game. I think SunDevil was with me on that.

it's not figuring him out, it's figuring out how to stop 5 other freaks on their offense. he's not making passes into tight windows or throwing to only a certain part of the field. but he is making all the big throws and isn't scared to go down field and put up points. they aren't trying to win 28-20 anymore.

on top of that, that OL is at least above average. they give him just enough time for their weapons to run their routes. blitzing him is a huge mistake because you can't play man with those WRs or Eifert. you gotta play zone, and zone blitzing them won't work either because of their speed. they will get to soft spot of that zone before the pass rush can get there.

and what's gonna happen if he does get better, if he does learn to read defenses and go through his second/third options? he's gonna be unstoppable with that cast for years to come.

how do you stop the Chiefs offense? have a couple Jalen Ramsey's playing CB, with a Kam type of SS who can cover Eifert and put some fear in him, and dominant DL who can stop Hunt if the pass isn't working, and one or two HOF edge rushers who can get to him fast and finish, so Hill/Watkins/Conely aren't open by 30 yards 2 sec into the play.

good luck.

Holy smoke! In addition to all their other weapons, they now have Eifert AND Travis Kelce?

Lot of things working for them right now. OL is healthy. Added weapons. If Eric Berry can come back to form and get the defense playing better they have to be considered a SB contender.
This team needs to trade for Earl Thomas. I mean....so do the Niners, but yeah.

to beat this team you're gonna need a very good defense, and a QB who can also put up some points. Panthers have been looking good, defense has been great, and Cam is Cam. Eagles if they get over their SB hangover, which might now happen. Vikings also have a shot. Rams might also have a shot.

but those are all NFC teams i've named. AFC, even the Pats, their defense isn't dominant enough. But, Brady can play time possession as good as anyone else, and Bill can scheme a game where they get a turnover or two and some sacks to keep the ball Brady's hands. Texans? Maybe...if they Watson goes back to looking amazing and that defense plays like a top 5 team

so if i'm the Chiefs, this is the year i go out and trade to make a splash at the trade deadline, which rarely happens.
Best QB in NFL

Reminds me of Marino's rookie season

Lots of people here tried to downplay the talent on this team, but it's undeniable now with a QB that isn't afraid to use his weapons.

How do you account for the best deep threat, the best TE, and the reigning rushing champ? They attack every level of the field with an elite weapon. I was saying the same thing last year, but now they have a QB that can make the most talented offense in the NFL actually look like the most talented offense in the NFL. No more being held back.

Hope the OL can stay healthy! I'd like to see just how good Mahomes is with Hill and company! Go KC!
Will be known as Mehomes by the end of the year
