Here is the full text of his speech. He stands up for traditional family values. That is all.

Traditional...give me a break, want to hear about some other "traditions" that women had to put up for many generations?

"I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you."

That's a hell of a thing to say at a graduation. Did you even listen to it? If u agree with his whole stance, you need evolve past your 1800s mentality. Especially taking at shot at gays. He should save his BS for church or MAGA rally

It's being super judgemental and borderline hateful under the guise of traditional family values. But he's got the right feel that way.
he really lost me here. And full disclosure I am catholic and have friends who feel this way and I talk s**t to them too lol

He was "preaching to the choir." It was at a private Catholic college that subscribes to what he was saying. We may not like some of what he said but he has a right to say it. His religious belief, as stated in Ephesians 5:21-33, is that men and women, husbands and wives, should treat each other with equal respect. That passage ends with "let each one of you love his wife as himself,"

One particular thing he said that I agree with is that women who choose to be a "stay-at-home mom", homemaker, should not feel embarrassed to state that publicly. That decision should be honored and highly respected, not ridiculed as is so often the case. I see too many kids being raised by babysitters and other surrogates while lacking the very personal, critical nurturing that comes from a dedicated mother.

My thing is this. Yes, most of the people he was speaking to probably subscribe to a lot of his opinions. But telling the women, who just spent a fortune and busted their ass for four years to achieve a degree in higher learning (which is the stepping stone to a lot of great jobs), that degrees, promotions and careers arent important can be seen as really insulting. There is a way to honor your wife without putting down women who either choose to have careers or are forced to have jobs and careers out of necessity. Is the day of celebration for graduating college really the appropriate time to be putting down women's goals or careers?

This didnt offend me. My lady has a job and is also a great family woman (both things can be true). But I can totally see why it was offensive to a large amount of people.

That is where it started, and they still seem to have the loudest voice. We live in a relatively conservative area and we still hear it from time to time. The fact that Butker felt the need to express encouragement to young women in a conservative college is an indication it is a factor.
