There HAS to be an investigation.
Why? NFL can do this and it is legal.
Remember, NFL Football is not a sport. It is entertainment. I always remind myself of this when I watch 49ers games.
I do wonder how and why people bet on football games... how can betting on an entertainment event be a thing?
It's actually a very relevant question.
I was once a big pro wrestling fan. I still watch highlights sometimes on YouTube and so forth. I just don't have the time or interest to typically sit and watch it anymore like when I was younger.
But I recall Kevin Nash, who I always liked, saying something about Ric Flair was a great performer but never won anything because it's "fake". Another former wrestler got mad at him using the "f" word and he responded, "Can you go to Vegas and bet on Wrestlemania?" and the guy he was talking to said, "No, the outcome is predetermined."
If the NFL is indeed classified as entertainment, and it
is, then indeed how can it be betted on?
I think the only way they get away with it is they present it as football, the same game these guys were playing in high school and maybe even before. And essentially it is. When kids wrestled in high school or college, that's entirely different from like the WWE. Sure, some of it is the same. But in amateur wrestling there's no ropes, turnbuckles, dropkicks, piledrivers, ddt's, etc. Definitely no steel chairs or kendo sticks. So it is entertainment. These guys are doing the exact same stuff that they did before entering the NFL.
I also don't think every single game every single week is rigged or predetermined. I mean, it's possible. But I don't think they care enough to go through all that trouble. Certain games and the Super Bowl, that's different.
Also don't know how much the players themselves actually know or are involved. I see the stuff about the exact score being set and it being choregraphed throughout the game and it's like no way. Wrestlers mess up in the ring and that's one on one. No way do 11 guys on both sides of the ball work in perfect sync for 60 minutes.
But it would be nice if we could believe everything was totally legitimate or if it was rather than the NFL picking their winners and losers.
