Pat Mahomes and the Kansas City Swifties Thread

KC just took a big hit losing Zach Fulton to Houston. He was their second best OL. That OL was nothing special before and it will be less now.

Mahomes better go watch Alex getting the ball out quickly because he is going to need that.

Those deep weapons, Hill and now Watkins, will not be of much value if the OL can't pass block. That problem was evident when LDT was out for those four games.

They will have to be very good in the draft because they are down two picks from the Mahomes move-up.

They need their Paraag Marathe.

They have Conley and Kelce also. Watkins can run some underneath stuff.

They'll probably draft a few o lineman. And Mahomes has star potential. Just wait and see.

Interesting moves so far. Mahomes is a very interesting QB (I expect him to do well) and adding to the already stellar skill positions is great...but that OL has been iffy and they need to keep the young guy on his feet!

I'm a bit disappointed that the Chiefs decided on Chad Henne as backup quarterback. I think Moore would have been the better choice.

As with most teams, if they have to rely on either one they are in trouble.

After having spent $16M/yr, $30M GTD on Sammie Watkins, they are betting that Mahomes will not only be healthy but not play like a rookie.

How many teams have a second QB who could lead them to a Super Bowl, let alone playoffs? NE traded away theirs...any others? There are a few teams with equal QBs but they are second or third tier teams.

They aren't worried Mahomes might play like a rookie. They aren't going to use Alex's one good season (production wise) in 13 years as a measuring stick for a player in his 2nd year, first year starting (like some did when we dumped him, even though our young QB was on par with, or better than Alex until our roster fell to the bottom of NFL). I think they get it could happen and have accepted it.

The fact is they moved on from Alex. They realized they aren't winning anything with him, like we did. They finally got his career year out of him, but it was too late. He had already wasted that defenses best years. That kind of season isn't happening again anyways. Expecting a 13 year player to duplicate an outlier year just isn't happening. Not even the Jets fell for that with Fitz going into the 2016 season.

Mahomes may not be a franchise QB, but neither is Alex. The guy we moved on to wasn't a franchise QB, but he had success on good rosters (more than Alex has with good rosters) and we ended up with Jimmy G. You never give yourself a chance to have a Jimmy G if you hold onto an Alex. It's time to get over him, there's nothing special about a guy that takes 13 years to become an ok QB.

Not because I laughed out loud though, but because it was a spot on post (aside from the asusmption Alex will never duplicate last seasons success. I dont think he will either and would bet a lot of money against it, but never say never.)
