UDFA Jeffrey Wilson RB

I'd be very surprised if it was any more than a late rounder. Wilson is a good runner, but still has a fumble history and injury history. Good chance he'd only be a rental too.

All that said, we drafted and signed his future replacement as the depth guy already with Davis-Price and Mason. CMC and Mitchell will be the lightning and the former mentioned will be the thunder. Coleman would be the deep depth guy, but probably has the poorest vision among all our backs, he's just the better blocker and receiver than TDP and Mason I imagine.

I can see both sides of a potential Wilson trade...on one hand, he's been good when healthy. On the other hand, he likely wouldn't get many carries once Mitchell returns. Another possible benefit of trading him beyond whatever draft pick they get is it should give both Davis-Price and Mason more reps. I think we can get the Niner version of thunder & lightning that way.

A podcaster mentioned Mason didn't show to practice. Anyone know why? Trade? Personal reason?

Coleman is old and injury prone.
Mason who?

1. We are supposed to be a run first team. Every year our RBs depth is depleted. Wison is very valuable to this team.

Another thing to consider is what we would get if Wilson signed elsewhere in the off-season. Team might feel we could get just as much via a comp pick while still keeping him for depth.

I'm guessing this was leaked to gauge his market value. I doubt there will be a trade with the current RB injuries.
