if true, it seems JWJr had concerns about his (possible lack of) usage in his contract year
It sounds like Jeff Wilson approached Kyle Shanahan about his usage / carries after Christian McCaffrey's arrival.
Sounds like the 49ers and Wilson worked mutually together to find a beneficial spot for him, while also maximizing their draft capital in return. Win-Win.
Makes sense. Good on Shanalynch for being fair with him about it. These are the type of things that get around the league amongst players re: which organizations treat players with respect.

Good luck to you Jeff Wilson. What's your favorite Wilson moment? I'll always remember that late TD vs. The Cards where we beat that 0 blitz.
First game at Levi for me. Front and center for that…had the whole family there and the atmosphere was amazing
Wilson stabilized the run game with Mitchell going down with the ankle. He's been valuable to the team. He knows and the Niners know he would be relegated to a backup behind CMC and Mitchell. In Miami he has a better chance to be one the field.
Goodluck JWJ in Miami! He should continue to do well with Mcdaniel. So Mitchell should be good to go and TDP will get some extra snaps. Good trade for both sides.
Part of me hated to see him go, but not only will he get a better opportunity to play in Miami, so too will Davis-Price and/or Mason have a better chance to get on the field. Jeff was a heckuva UDFA RB, always ran hard and led the team in rushing during the "lost" 2020 season. It does make me feel good he'll be playing under McDaniels. He'll know exactly how to use him.
Was good insurance , I don't get it if we gonna make a run , Mitchell never healthy and they banking on him to share with cmc, and if they both get hurt? We gotta rely on rookies
