This guy simply isn't a top 10 pick in my opinion.
I agree. Dont see the explosiveness to be a great edge rusher and to make the 49ers way better on defense. Good player but I am not sure he will be special.
i'd take a consistently good d-lineman at this point

The 2nd pick in the draft better be better than just "consistently good". The Niners need a game changer and I dont think Ferrell is that kind of player. If a team wants to move up I think the smart move is for the Niners to get extra picks and get someone like Polite, Burns, or Allen if he was still available later in the first.

I didn't see the first half but in the second he looked to be loafing a bit. Hope that was it- and the moment wasn't too big for him- cause he was getting locked up pretty easily by the lt one on one.

This. Going with consistently good but not elite at 2 is Solomon Thomas all over again. Unless one of the edges really comes on in the offseason we need to trade out of 2/3. Even if it's not total trade chart value (imagine 2 will hold a lot but 3 won't) we have to trade down. There just isn't a player of major need that's a value at 3. Even if we just got a 2 and 3 this year to drop from 3 to 10 I would take it and gladly go with Allen/Polite/Burns at that spot and trade back up in the first for a value pick that's falling. That way we hit on our biggest need with an impact player and get a second impact player (whoever happens to fall). That's 2 immediate starters, one at a position of major need with 1 pick.

At this point? Did Buckner suddenly retire and no one told me?

He's a national champion who was the Defensive MVP of the Fiesta Bowl CFP Semifinal the year Clemson won it all. He's won 4 straight conference titles and is going to his third national title game as a starter. I don't think the moment is too big for him. Clemson gave up 3 points on defense and totally dominated the line of scrimmage.

exactly my point
right now, we have 1/4 good d-lineman
with this we'd be 2/4

i agree, but I don't think there is a game changer for us in this draft aside from Bosa.
TPBH, option #1 with the current draft standings, would be to move down in the draft, but idk with this draft class.

I think Q Williams is a game changer for any team he joins. My hope is that Arizona falls in love with him or another team behind us does and wants to give up picks to move up. He seems to clearly be the 1st or 2nd best player in this draft and if the Niners didnt have Buckner I would be all for taking him with our pick.

Yup. But I think Ferrell removed himself from the discussion over the course of this season. Not even a top-5 edge rusher let alone a top 5 pick.
