He was my 2nd DE after Bosa and my #1 safest pick. Raiders may have reached a little for him but he wouldn't have been there for their next 1st rd pick if they was to pick someone else at #4. I believed the Raiders wanted to trade down after Murray was gone but there were no suitors for a trade down, so they pick the BPA on their board. Good pick for them although I hate them very much.

Ferrell wouldn't have been available later. Take him at #4 was their only option I guess.

Ferrell was underrated on the mock drafts (which often know nothing - but fans wrongly think they do). Also here on the WZ big time. He is a prototype pass rusher for size, speed and athleticism. He also put up real big production. To top it off he came out of one of the absolute premier programs. He really checks all the boxes.
Every year there is that one guy or a few who get overlooked in mock drafts. Sometimes wrongly so. Then fans call it a "reach" when he goes higher than expected. I think John Gruden is a pretty good football guy. It's hard to say he doesn't know what he is doing based on his track record in the league. I think Ferrell can have a real nice career if used correctly.

He was very highly regarded midseason then the anticipation of the combine and everything around it dipped his popularity considerably.
Just goes to show you...

That´s a massive reach.
But the guy is pretty good. He has a high floor.
I honestly don´t think that this was their worst pick in the night.
The Jacobs one is the worst.
They could have drafted Montez Sweat and who cares if the Ravens draft Jacobs, just take Cody Ford or Byron Murphy. Or Marquise Brown.
They thought that Sweat would be there at 27.

I sure hope you weren't in the Bosa thread talking about how unathletic he is if you think Ferrell is the prototype for size, speed and athletic ability.

More like a functional cookie cutter mould than prototype. The whole bar was shocked and one guy screamed. Then when jones was picked, everyone just laughed at the giants fan facepalming
Public opinion doesnt matter. If he's your top guy,you take him. I still think he is overrated withhow stackedthat Clemson line was.
I personally dont like what the raiders did in the first. Redskins killed it though

Not if Montez Sweat's heart problems becomes a real problem.
