no they didn't lol...they have a s**t ton of picks and could move up if they wanted, I know you like him but in no way was he worth a top 5 pick.

He was 2nd best 4-3 in period. Most here had reservations on Allen, Gary, Sweat etc... if you look at the tape and not the workouts Ferrell was right there with the Bosa, Allen, Oliver and Williams.

But because he doesn't have "bend" Dude is a beast and kudos to Raiders for not fallin for it
He will be right there with Bosa in sacks. Then we'll hear, well he doesn't have so and so eating into his numbers

More like a functional cookie cutter mould than prototype. The whole bar was shocked and one guy screamed. Then when jones was picked, everyone just laughed at the giants fan facepalming

Public opinion doesnt matter. If he's your top guy,you take him. I still think he is overrated withhow stackedthat Clemson line was.

I personally dont like what the raiders did in the first. Redskins killed it though

Not if Montez Sweat's heart problems becomes a real problem.

I read an article wherethe doctor at the combine mismeasured his heart and added in a cartridge which increased the measurement from 3.5 to 4.0 cm. This could have been a misdiagnosis. I'm more impressed with their patience to stay put, and still getthe 2nd best qb at 15. Then, getting sweat as a 3-4 OLB is a gamble, but the risk is worth it at that spot when they lost their olb. They might have avoided a complete rebuild because of this.thats why I feel they did good so far
I really didn't think they would take him. It surprised me.

I thought Allen all the way.
LOL it never fails for the raiders.

Reaching for someone who could have fell to them in the 20's.

You're Kittling yourself if you think he would've fell that low..
Jacobs was a lot worse pick than Ferrell to me.

He was predicted between mid to late 1st round so that's what i'm basing it off of.
While on paper, it did seem like a reach, I think that was more due to a lot of mocks that I personally thought were a little whack in their predictions. When you look at the make-up of the other edge defenders, he fits a certain mold that the others really don't. I was never a big fan of Josh Allen.

As of yesterday, my order of edge rushers would've been: Bosa, Burns, Ferrell, Sweat (if the medical was a misdiagnosis), and then Allen based on my opinion of these guys in terms of overall talent and polish as pure DEs. Ferrell going 4 instead of 5-15 isn't that much of a reach to me. People had him falling I think more because of what they thought other teams would do at other positions I think, and less because of his talent level.

Yes,...because you can evaluate talent and know what's going to happen and who you can trade with in an NFL draft better than Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock working the phones.

Now I've seen it all.

The problem is,....the other 31 teams had no say whatsoever in these predictions other than to mislead.

Acting like we have a clue before the draft is one thing. But how the hell are we going to act like we talked with Washington and Pittsburgh for the last several days and knew what was really up?

Sure,...let's have fun on message boards for months before a draft. It's the offseason,..we have nothing else to do aside from take the trash out and mow the lawn.

But come day 2 of it,....let's not pretend like we're more than we really are. This is where some posters prove to be legit to discuss things with,...and others completely fall off the map in taking themselves too seriously.

Gruden is kinda incompetent if you ask me. Ferrell wasn't bad, it just seemed like it because he got picked several spots too soon in many people's minds. The Jacobs pick is just silly. Plenty of good rbs left in day two and three, doesn't he know how to develop players?

All other things being equal, a big reason the Raiders took Ferrell at #4 was his character and leadership. He was the leader of that defense...the other players looked up to him. That's the kind of players they want to rebuild their roster. I applaud their efforts.

I agree. He was a big reason why Alabama couldn't do much in their loss to Clemson. Ferrell played well under the big lights.
